I can't speak German but My Mac can. Here's English translation.

Aller beste. Frieden und Segen.

There are some large peoples in Australia, who belong also to this place of assembly. Attendance Australia is one of my life dreams and I hopes to do it a daily soon. All best. Peace and benediction
Yes there are some large peoples... and some of them ride LT's too, and they are verrrry nice peoples!

BABLEFISH TRANSLATED AS: Hello Chris, thanks for your interest and feedback. Simply gladly once Australia would like to orbit and again loves people to become acquainted with with the Baby(LT). Are 16,000 km realistic or meet there more? Smutje

Hello Smutje
I don't speak German (have been to, and have some friends in, Munich at ARRI, does that count?). Translating everything in Babelfish will get boring very quickly.. and I'm not so sure it gets the "true meaning" all the time..., but anyway..

Don't actually know how far it is around Oz... 16,000km would be a fair guess. Easily on the LT I would think. A few of "our" guys have done pretty long sections of it, if not all the way around (the Perth boys...for sure!).
Just give yourself plenty of time.
For example, Melbourne to Sydney is about 9 hours straight through, Sydney to Cairns (far north Qld) can be about 2.5 days straight through - I've done that in a campervan. Absolute minimum to get around Oz you'd need maybe 2 weeks riding long hours every day I would think... damn boring trip though without stopping to smell the roses!
I would think plan 6 weeks as a minimum to go right around and start to enjoy it. I think you have to watch out for the rainy season in the top end (now) as far as planning.. the rest is just whether its hot, cold, wet or.. in winter there is some snow in the Snowy Mountains that means no riding there for a couple of months, probably June - Sept for sure.

There are many great backroads as well as coastline to travel, so your 16,000km could expand if you had time.

Get onto Google Earth and do some planning to check out distances.
cheers

Hallo Chris ,

Worauf muß man gezielt achten ?

Bis dahin und liebe Grüße aus Deutschland !

Babelfish: "Hello Chris, best and dear thanks for your information. Since I begin with my "Planerei" straight only, I suck everything naturally into me inside. Interesting it is to be known whether it map/catalog with proven camping sites - gives motels."

Some website links to try for roads and camping etc:
http://www.mynrma.com.au/cps/rde/xch...lanner_pop.htm
The NRMA (National Roads and Motorists Association) is NSW based, but is linked to all the other states road associations (in Vic, Qld etc).
On the Travelplanner, you can check which items you want to see on the map (eg Tourist Parks/Camping Areas) and they'll show location and other information as you zoom in.
Small map, but if you combine that with using Google Earth's map at the same time (both applications open on your desktop) you can get a great overview.
Qld version: http://www.racq.com.au/cps/rde/xchg/...r_ENA_HTML.htm
or try this:
http://www.exploroz.com/

Babelfish: "Must motorcycles be specially insured or as in the USA than leisure vehicles"

Motorcycle insurance is the same here as car insurance. There are specialist insurers, I use Western QBE as they have the best price for me and have been helpful in one minor incident I had.
http://www.qbe.com.au/Personal/Motor...Insurance.html
There are a number of others too. Shannons, NRMA... web search will find them.

Babelfish: "look for I an inexpensive source of supply for my navigation equipment MKIII V4.5 for Australia and possibly also for New Zealand. On what does one have to respect purposefully?"

I think this means "what do you use?"... if it does, I have a Garmin Streetpilot 2610 with the latest Garmin maps. Latest version has just been updated. I use that with its PC software "Garmin Mapsource" and Google Earth to find places and routes I want to travel and accomodation points.

cheers

Thanks Smutje.
I am travelling to Europe in October, but it will be through Italy, then briefly travel through Switzerland & Paris before flying home. Just a 20 day or so trip with my partner.
Hope you make it down here and have a wonderful time.
PM me if you find yourself on the way to Sydney!
regards

Hi Smutje
habe deine frage eben erst gelesen.
ME 880
Lieber Gruss
Patrik
