HID issues

Afternoon all..

Finally scrimped together enough fun coupons to acquire HID lighting for my trusty 01 LT.

Has anyone got a viewpoint as to what particular set-up is best for OZ conditions? I have heard (anecdotally) that issues arise from overseas kit bulbs being orientated for right hand driving conditions, holes need to be drilled in the reflectors etc. Cannot comment on the veracity of these stories, so thought the wider membership might be able to assist.

I have seen Onions' zillion candlepower setup (may the farkle be with you matey) but never bothered to inquire as to exactly what was installed. (And more importantly - WHERE did it come from?)

Comments anybody?

Best regards to all

G'day Chris,

I have a HID set up on my LT, the unit I bought was through a company called xenonoz in NSW. Good unit, Hella system. The company is very supportive although expensive. I had my unit fitted by Southbank in Melbourne as I am not to good with electrics. The fittement to mine is brilliant and the guys have done a superb job. It's been on the bike since new (just over 2yrs) and never had a problem. It certainly was worth the expense in terms of night riding. If you want PM me and I can send you some photo's of where the unit is fitted.

The bulbs are all the same. The reflector/lens assemblies are different for right/left hand driving. You will not be changing the reflector, so any HID kit of correct H7 (for low beam) bulb and ballast will work just fine.

G'day Kev

It stands for High Intensity Discharge. You see a lot of them on the more modern up market cars here in Oz, they're the blue white lights coming towards you while they are distracted in changing the CD and answering the mobile .
