Re: Snowy 2018

Hi. I have been on 1 of the Snowy rides and found it stifling. To many people and other restrictions. (police). I much enjoy the Kosciuszko rally which is being held this year 13,14 October at the Swampy Plains camping grounds. (37th year) It is about a 500 kM ride for me and enjoy it. No traffic or crowds.
I leave my place around 0800 and arrive home at 1800. (Too old for camping now) It takes me from home to Cooma right to Adaminby, Kiandra, left onto the Link Road to Cabarmurra, left to Kahncoban, (Lunch) Geehi, (Rally site have a talk with organisers and other rallyists) Thredbo, Jindabyne, Cooma and home.
With good weather it is a great trip.

Re: Snowy 2018

G'day Ian!
Yeah, I get where you're coming from.
Living in Weston your at a good launch point for day trips around that way...
We stayed in Canberra overnight last time, may do that again just to break it up a bit.

We come down from Sydney, and have friends ex-Sydney but now in Brissy that make a 2 week holiday of it. We usually stay in Thredbo for 5 days, rather than just "do the ride".

Also usually catch up with others we know (a couple of LT riders still get down there... but not many) which makes it a good weekend + away.

BTW, nice little trailer and older beemer in pic in your other post!

cheers
Chris

Chris
Off on my yearly ride for the Kosciuszko rally on Friday 12 Oct. If you are going to stay a night in Canberra over night next time you come past let me know and we can meet up.

Re: Snowy 2018

Well another 5 day sojourn to the Snowy Mountains is over, as usual 4 seasons although this time the hot weather that preceded the ride weekend meant that for the first time we didn't light the fire at our accommodation! Also a lot of the snow had disappeared, but still enough around to make it pretty up at Charlotte Pass.

Great turnout with over 2140 registered participants (riders, pillions and others), they raised well over $250,000 for kids cancer research.

A few pics from the weekend away... there'll be lots more at The Snowy Ride site as they get loaded up.

Less than 12 months till the 2019 Snowy Ride!
