Snowy 2017

Hi all.

So... The Snowy Ride is coming up again.... anyone going?
https://stevenwalterfoundation.org.au/

Been busy prepping the bike for yet another fun trip (hopefully) down to Thredbo and back. Once again taking a couple of extra days, we plan to stay in Canberra overnight on the way down this time, and get into Thredbo on Thursday 2nd Nov. The Ride itself is Sat 4th Nov.

Lot's to do this year as the bike hadn't been serviced for 2 years (due to house reno's) so it's been an almost full strip down for service, also get the rear Wilbers shock rebuilt after 50,000km (ouch... that was more expensive than expected!) and also the right radiator repaired (wow, that was cheaper and easier than expected!).
Still to replace the clutch fluid, and brake fluids, but everything else pretty much done...
new spark plugs, checked valve clearances (all OK), cleaned air filter (still good), new rear brake pads, engine oil and filter, gearbox fluid, final drive fluid, replaced coolant (along with the radiator fix), new battery, new GPS mount for my Zumo, and re-wire all my electrical connections through a Fuzeblock....

Hopefully will get a few days straight run at it when I take some leave soon, finish the job and bolt her back up, see if she fires up again.

Re: Snowy 2017

Pleased to report that the LT service went wonderfully..... the only issue I had was doing a final check with the GS911 and running the TPS sensor test I couldn't get it to stabilise in the middle green bar section... it overshot into the red area and wouldn't come back from there. Checking all cables and everything seemed to be adjusted OK, I didn't touch the little TPS thingy (can't be bothered looking up the proper name, I know it has one... sorry Sailor.. ). Bike seems to idle OK regardless, so will just run it and see how she goes.

Followed that up with a complete service of the K1200GT, including replacing a blown fork seal, so replaced both.
Clutch feels very touchy after the service with new fluid, takes up almost as soon as you start to release the clutch lever.... caught me out on the first test ride when I was a bit too close to some semi's..... pucker factor moment, but all good.

2 happy bikes for a while... fingers crossed.

Bit of luck in the next couple of years we'll be doing a few trips around in the MH and hopefully get down your way again!
