Unhappy Vale - Phill Ward

Sorry to share news that one of our LT mates, Phill Ward... has left us to ride Beryl Beemer in a better place.
Apparently suffered from a short but very aggressive illness, which took him on a new journey on 7 Nov.
Condolences to his wife and riding partner Rhonda, and his family.

And thanks to his mate, Shane for informing us.

addendum.... if you've ever read any of Phil's posts about Beryl Beemer you'll know what a twisted sense of humour he had (typical Pom) and how much he loved that bike....
Here in Jan 2016 he talks about it reaching 250,000km... must be an Oz record for an LT?

Re: Vale - Phill Ward

Thanks Chris,
Unfortunately I do have to confirm what Chris has already told you.
Phill didn't want to bother anyone about his illness so did not tell anybody but close family.
I wish he had decided differently, however can't change that now.
I do know that he was a really great bloke and that he was quick with a joke no matter what was happening. I enjoyed many great times in his company but in retrospect it should have been many more. I was always thinking that we would have heaps of time to ride and catch up when he finally retired, however we obviously left that a bit too long. I for one will miss him greatly.
Cheers Shane

Sad news

So sorry to hear this.
Managed a couple of rides with Phill. Very funny guy and always quick with a joke.
Shared a News Years with He and Rhonda watching the crowds over Sydney Harbour.
He could always spin a yarn, and commuting in Sydney on Beryl gave him loads of material.
He will be missed.
Condolences to Rhonda and Family.
