Home made $15 Servo Assist Brake Bleed/Flush funnel tool

Hey all,

Living down under in Australia we are sometimes 'forced' to buy from other lands. Thus, the ever popular and needed "Servo Assist Brake Bleed/Flush tool"

Currently this sells for about $34.95 US plus freight/post to Australia at the checkout is $48 to $64.25 US thus a total of $82.95 to - 99.20 US. Converted to Australian dollars and it's approx $108 to $128.62 AUD

So that's $108 to $128,62 Aud for a funnel and cap, seemed rather expensive albeit I believe BMW want $300

Given that I'm not keen on paying $128 or even $108 Aud for a plastic funnel I decided to make my own.
1/ Located a wrecked BMW K1200LT on eBay
Reservoir cap $10 posted
2/ Located a 9mm (at the end) 90mm (at the top ) 100 mm (height) clear plastic funnel on eBay $4.50 posted
3/ Some old epoxy in the garage $0

Total cost: $14.50 Aud or $11.25 US
Total build time: 6 minutes
Tools: drill and 9mm bit to drill out middle of reservoir cap & epoxy glue

Put epoxy around plastic funnel, slid plastic funnel into drilled out reservoir cap, allowed epoxy to set and now I have a Servo Assist Brake Bleed/flush funnel tool

My home made funnel tool

Close up of the funnel tip epoxied into the drilled out reservoir cap

It fits perfectly into the reservoir because it's a reservoir cap so no air leaking issue, the epoxy is a perfect seal so no air gap and because clear plastic I can keep an eye on levels. The 100mm height clears the frame so it doesn't impede by anything.

Cheers, Pete

yep that will make it easier well done. I am lucky, I just use a jam jar, fill it up stick a hose in it to the top of the reservoir fill nut make sure the jar doesn't empty.
