Cool Beryl Beemer's birthday today, party??

Hi Guys, and gals,

Beryl Beemer's birthday today, 2nd Sept 2014, woohoooo.

Having emigrated from the fatherland on the 2nd boat, she has settled in for the last 15 years at Denistone West.

Had the usual pink slip (road worthiness) at $22.50, Compulsory Third Party (CTP) at $674.52, Road registration at $120, and comprehensive insurance (agreed value $14,500) at $464.00.

Have a couple of replacement front discs (after market) and EBC pads to install when I find somewhere that sells the med strength 143 thread locker goop. Didn't realise how hard it is to find this gunk.... my OEM front discs are 1/2 the thickness they are supposed to be, so a birthday pressy for the old girl.

Gave her a bubble bath on the weekend but looking outside here at work this afternoon it looks like some storms are out there .... just waiting for us.

And so another year is clocked of reliable trouble free motoring on the old girl. gave her a new filter and oil transfusion a couple of weekends ago...she is still spinning over really sweet and smooth on her days.. Methinks she will need new/refurbished suspension units as the Wilbers and modified rear OEM unit are beyond their usefull working life without some TLC.. such is life....

cheers

Re: Beryl Beemer's birthday today, party??

Congrats Phil.... Tyc is only 2/3rds her age now :-)

Not to dim the achievement... but... if you'd asked I may have saved you $18 or so on your CTP as a Ulysses member, get it through Monaland... https://www.monaland.com.au/
I paid $656.93 last week. Pretty much a free tank of fuel...
Anyway, that's minor in the life of the dear lady.

"Special" loctite..? I just used Blue (not loctite brand) on new front rotors a few weeks ago.

Hope you get a wonderful birthday ride in! (and not to work...)

all the best mate

Cool Re: Beryl Beemer's birthday today, party??

Hi Chris,
Heyyyy thanks for Beryl's birth certificate, neat stuff. The adoption agency (ProCycles Hornsby) failed to give me this.

Hmmmmmm doesn't say who Beryl's father and mother are....tut tut should have these people down as they did a GREAT job.

cheers

Yes, I am after the blue 143 thread locker solution, bunnings have the low strength red, but not blue. where did you get the blue from?

Did you have to re-shim the front brake sensor at all after removing the ABS ring in the process of replacing the fornt bacon slicers???? BTW what discs did you get, from whom, and price?

cheers

Supercheap auto - Permatex Blue $12.99
http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/onl...pid=5361#Cross

No re-shimming of the ABS sensor, just dropped the new rotors on, replaced the sensor ring and bolted it all back up. Seems to work just fine. I did a few hard brake tests just after and all was good at the time... but I will retest maybe this weekend, I need to check that my minor fuel leak (QD's) is now fixed when its under pressure.

Got MD616 EBC rotors from JCmotors through their website (cheaper than their EBAY listing) paid US$135.36 each, but then got a 10% discount and then had California tax on top (They were shipped to a mate in CA for onshipping with other stuff). So US$263.14 + shipping costs.

Or you could try the ones from Metalgear in Brisbane, about $160 each
