Re: trip to NSW tech session

Linton,
My plan is to be there.

Heading off today for an overnight at my brothers on the Central Coast. Saturday up to my sister in Grafton. Not sure which way yet.
Monday will leave Grafton back to Sydney by the Gwydir Highway through Glen Innes.
Not sure how far I will get, but happy to stop Monday night if I have to.

Look forward to catching up.

Re: trip to NSW tech session

I'll be home!

Anyone need the address let me know....

BTW I got the Castrol spline lube, and will spend this Sunday tearing further into the old girl (the bike, that is) to get her ready.... see how far I get pending likely interruptions from wife, dog, son or all three...

Re: trip to NSW tech session

Linton, have a very safe but fun ride across mate. Hope the weather plays nice for you!

Bike is nearly ready to get to the clutch, exhaust came off no issues, as did final drive (no leaks).
I've left the the right side footpeg on (just) for the moment so as not to stress any break line stuff, even though we'll change them over later.

New rotors on front, so once the clutch is changed will be onto the Spieglers and new pads up front too.
Looking forward to next weekend!

Guys, GS911 will be available if you want to check out your systems over the weekend.

cheers

Talking Re: trip to NSW tech session

Done and dusted...
With the amazing assistance of Linton (Axle) who travelled roughly 1250km to provide guidance (he's been in there and done that) and mechanical assistance we've managed to get my little LT back on the road.

New clutch.. finally installed that Siebenrock oilproof thats been sitting in my drawer for about 2 years
Near-new final drive, rotor & caliper (from a triked 2007 LT of only 1200km)
New front rotors & pads
Spieglers brake lines all round.

Hopefully Greg & Brian picked up some good tips for their upcoming respective surgeries also... good to catch up again guys!

A few little issues along the way but patience, thinking time over coffee.. referencing the great instructions from the site and Kirk's videos, and persistence (especially from Linton) got it over the line.
A little hesitant when the bike wouldn't start but everything else seemed to have checked out..... Linton remembered the reverse switch had pulled apart so flicked it from forward to reverse and back a couple of times, and then she kicked over happily.

GS911 all checked out OK, that's really handy to confirm what you think all is OK is being reported in the bike also...

Again, much respect for Linton, huge huge effort to come all that way... glad we could turn on some nice weather for you!

cheers guys

Re: trip to NSW tech session

Been keeping an eye on a little bit of brake fluid overflow leak from rear reservoir, but noticed another leak up front right-hand side after riding it for a week..... fuel!
Looks like one of the QD's wasn't quite sealing properly....
Pulled the right panel today and put some new o-rings on the male ends of both (only 1 was leaking). Hopefully fixes the issue!

Re: trip to NSW tech session

It was the one I couldn't get done up....
but yeah, new O-rings and a clean up and went back together much easier
Otherwise running brilliantly! 2 hacks are better than 1 !
