LISTENING TO THE RADIO WITH THE IGNITION OFF

I don't seem to be able to turn my radio on with the ignition off on my new 2015 RT. i could do it on my 2010 RT by pressing the radio on button as soon as I turn off the ignition. Any ideas?

Re: LISTENING TO THE RADIO WITH THE IGNITION OFF

Canbus shuts everything down. It's a "feature". Once the igntition is off, the only things that can still be powered by the bike must be directly connected to the battery.

I don't listen to the radio with ignition off, but I would like Nav V to stay on, so it's ready to go right when I get on after a short stop. No joy there either.

Take another look! When you shut down the RT, Nav V will come up with the message asking you if you want to keep it on! All that you have to do is to touch "Yes".

And then it goes off after about 30 seconds anyway, when the Canbus shuts the whole bike down. I know the Nav V has a battery; maybe I'm missing a setting on the Nav. I have pushed the "stay on" button many times, but down she goes.

Really! I haven't tried it myself, but I would have thought that it would have gone to the internal battery.

Re: LISTENING TO THE RADIO WITH THE IGNITION OFF

This is the first time I sat through the whole process.

When I turn the key off, I get a warning on NAV V that says power off in 30 seconds. You can hit "Off" immediately, or leave it, and it will power off in 30 seconds.

I hit cancel. 30 seconds later, you get the same type warning (when Canbus goes off, I assume), and the Nav V starts a 30 second countdown. You can "cancel" again, and this time it stays on. I had never sat there for the 30 second dual power warning cycles. I just canceled it the first time, and the came back to find everything off.

I guess it's kind of like the old Windows logic - hit the start button to shut down! LOL

As for the OP, everything (not with its own battery power) on the bike goes off when Canbus goes off, about 30 seconds after ignition is switched to off position.
