Cell phone mount for 2015 R1200RT

Hello peeps, new to this site. I previously owned a 2004 K1200GT sold that and just bought a 2015 RT. I had a ram mount on my GT for my cell phone. Does anyone have any ideas for a cell phone mount for the new RT?

Jeff Dean just posted a shelf for the new RT's in the RT page you might want to check out. I have considered a RAM ball off one of the top screws holding on the dash cover, that could be attached to with a RAM mount and phone holder ... just haven't decided if I want the phone mounted or in one of the little dash cubbies yet.

I wish someone would make a iPhone mount that would plug and latch in place of the Garmin unit. I use my iPhone for directions and while the voice directions are great, having it in the GPS unit location would be ideal.

Has anyone experimented with attaching an iPhone case to the snap off cover?

I put my iPhone on my LT using a BioLogic waterproof case. Works great you can run power to it by getting a Cig plug to USB adapter.

Re: Cell phone mount for 2015 R1200RT

I have a Mofie battery charing case and a RAM mount for my iPhone 6 Plus...It is mounted on the front behind the windscreen. My issue is that when using the iPhone for GPS with bluetooth, it get so hot it asks me to turn it off.....this has happened on three different occasions....I live in southern California....happened to me in Hemet, Murrieta, Irvine and riding to Salt Lake City...

Then I put it on a 2005 1200gs....Same thing happened. Too hot.....concerned about the hot weather here and riding up to Montana, so now, I use a Garmin 590LM, Sena 20s and iPhone...Place the iPhone in the top case or left side case.....Siri will work so I can play music or pandora and still receive or make calls when required and not worrying about the heat shutdown issues

I use one of these handlebands from nite ize, buy it at your local bicycle shop or order it here. I have the illium bar backs and it mounts good their, although it sits sideways.

A Ram universal phone holder will nicely mount to a Ram ball which replaces the clutch/brake reservoir base plate. Costs about $13.00

I recently purchased a 2017 R1200RT and struggled with this. Ended up purchasing an extra GPS cover ($13) and mounting a Samsung S9 case with belt clip to the GPS cover. The belt clip elevates the phone enough so the S9 can fit in the GPS area. I've attached a few photos.

OK so this may be late, but I know of a couple of solutions:

1. Buy a set of Illium Works barbacks. They are about $125 and you don't need any special tool to install them (every video about them talks about needing a special tool to remove the bar from the stock clamp, but when you get the product, they tell you in the instructions that you can do the same thing with a heat gun). A RAM mount will then be able to attach to them.

2. I believe RAM makes mounts that can attach to the clutch/brake covers.

3. As mentioned, the accessory shelf can be used. I've seen a bloke named Greg Rice attach a RAM mount to the shelf's post.

I use solution 1 myself.
