New GS911 available

I got an email from Ted Porter over the weekend - the new GS911 that's compatible with the K16s and WaterBoxers, and links with Apple products, is available. He's going to have it at the MOA Rally, or you can order it online.

Re: New GS911 available

I'm surprised the email is concentrating only on the Apple compatibility. My understanding was that the new version had a generic web browser interface, allowing full feature use with any wireless device with a web browser. This would include Android tablets and improve smartphone capabilities over those with the original Bluetooth connection. Maybe I misunderstood, wouldn't be the first time.

Also surprised I could find no announcement on http://www.hexcode.co.za/.

Good point, Larry. I looked again at the website and it seems to imply it goes through an app rather than through a web browser interface. And it really doesn't talk about whether there's an Android app. Would certainly be worth a call to them to find out if you were interested. I'd like to have the capability to read it on my iPhone but I don't think I'll upgrade until I get a WaterBoxer. Of course, if they offered a trade-in for my old one I'd be tempted... Although there's no discussion about backwards compatibility, I don't know if the pin-out pattern on the new bikes is the same as the old ones.

My guess is that one of the drivers for this release was to get it out before the MOA rally. Pretty concentrated set of customers there.

Re: New GS911 available

I looked at Ted's website and it isn't clear if the new version will also work with Android phones as well as Apple laptops… I need one that could work with the laptop.

look here, it appears to me that it will work with pc and android, but read carefully to satisfy yourself. This is a line of text from the below setup page "Note: use the Windows PC, MAC OS X, Android or iOS utility to find GS-911 IP address."

Re: New GS911 available

From what I understand the new GS911 (ordered) will be able to work with an app (free to download from the Apple store) or any other device that has a web browser, so that includes laptops, (Android) phablets.

Is it here yet?

Andy - haven't seen you on this subforum for a while.

Yes, it appears that it's been released. See my first post on this thread. If you're going to the MOA Rally, Ted Porter will selling them from Booth 36-38 according to his email.

Yeah, I got mine already on order to be shipped as soon as they become available. Need to reset the service reminder pretty soon. My wife is riding more miles than I am lately and she's got more than 4000 miles on her 2 months old '14 GSAW

I am not surprised as there was a lot of bitching and moaning that the old version didn't work with Apple/Mac. If I ever get one it will be the new one because of that.

Re: New GS911 available

I ordered one on Sunday from Hard Racing, was $349, don't think it is the water model. I already paid $9.99 for the Android app. I was able to load the app on my cell phone and my tablet, no extra charge to load on any devise.

Ponch, if you want to check this out I'll meet for coffee and bagel at DJ's one morning and hook it up to your bike. I should have it Wed. or Thurs. On Aug 9 it will be going to NC where it will live happily ever after.

I'm ok with that, I'm no Apple fan and have no plans for a "W" model. My 2012 should last along time, then if any I'll need a smaller easy to handle bike in my older age. These days are coming sooner than expected.

Re: New GS911 available

Got another email yesterday - if you have no need for the new GS911 (no WaterBoxer, no Apple) then the old GS911 are substantially discounted this week.

DAMN IT, I'm always a day early and a dollar extra. I'm out 40 bucks! I hemmed and hawed over this purchase for weeks, Sunday I closed my eyes and pulled the trigger. Least I got free shipping...

I suppose that beats being a day late and a dollar short, like I often find myself.
