Aeroflow Aerowings
I ordered the Aeroflow Aerowings on Sunday. Got a UPS tracking number Monday & they will be here on Thursday. Now that is good customer service. I went with the Smoked ones as I think they will match the blue bike better then the clear would. Here are a few pics & a link to their web site.

Re: Aeroflow Aerowings
Steve, That looks interesting... But, you are going to have to ride a little slower and possible now, in the Rain Mode to keep them from falling off! :-)
Looking forward to a report.

I can vouch that these AeroWings aren't coming off, even at GTL-Nevada speeds . . .
![]() As for the Smoke version, you're welcome. Paige was just gonna do them in Clear, until I convinced him that Smoke would look great on the GTL . . .

Re: Aeroflow Aerowings
A while back a forum member ( I think from Canada) made up a similar product that mounted to the lower side of the mirror. They came with snaps, not velcro. I ordered a pair, but ended up selling them to someone else after they sat around a while. Didn't feel the need for them in Florida.
They were quite a bit smaller and I wonder how they will compare. They were a lot less conspicuous. Steve, didn't you try a pair?

Re: Aeroflow Aerowings
I have Aeroflow Aerowings on the K1300GT. I've looked at the ones for the K1600GT... They don't look bad and probably function pretty well. I don't mean to sound cheap, but, at $145.00 for two small, formed pieces of smoked plexiglass? I know there are develop costs, but...

Re: Aeroflow Aerowings
Welcome to BMW . . .
![]() Seriously, it's not just "two small, formed pieces of plexiglas", it's exactly how they're formed that makes it work. Paige at AeroFlow is a master at fluid flow dynamics, and the stuff he produces just flat works. I ran with several different prototype wings, using various shapes and sizes, for many thousands of miles in a wide variety of wind and weather conditions, before he settled on the final design. He's also a hell of a rider, too, although he never does talk about that much . . . There are other aftermarket wind management options out there for the K16, mostly coming from Europe, but I guarantee they're not any cheaper, and may or may not work as well. But if you really want a cheaper option, you could always look here, or try to fab something up yourself . . .

Re: Aeroflow Aerowings
The wings came in & it only took about 15 minutes to install. The smoked ones really "Blend" in with the bike. They follow the body lines great & look like something BMW would have made for the bike. I'll hopefully get to go for a ride on Sunday to test them out.

Ok, I swallowed my pride and opened my wallet. Ordered a set this afternoon from the Iphone while at dinner... I'll post pictures when I get them installed. I'll also post a rider report if they get here in time for our "Boys Weekend" in WV next week... It'll be interestind to see how they work with the CalSci windscreen.

Re: Aeroflow Aerowings
Went for a short 110 mile ride this morning & man what difference the Areowings make. I get a little air on my shoulders still but none on the hands & most of my arms. Was not able to take Sammie with me as she had to go to work but just by holding up my hand into the are I could tell the "Pocket" of still air around me & behind me was greater then before.

Re: Aeroflow Aerowings
Do you have a non-factory windshield? I am curious this is stopping the wind from hitting you. I hate looking thru the windshield, and would love something that would cut the wind down. Where did you get them?
Thanks Scott |

Re: Aeroflow Aerowings
I got my Aero Wings on Saturday and installed. Went for a test ride on Sunday and wouldn't you know it was 100 degrees here and they forecast the same for rest of the week. I'm sure I will appreciate them soon especially on early mornings commutes.

Re: Aeroflow Aerowings
Ok, I'm a believer! Installed the Aerowings just minutes before departing with 5 other bikes for a weekend in WV. The Aerowings and CalSci windscreen are a GREAT combination. Noise level at 60mph is not much above going 0 mph! It's a pleasure to ride the bike with combo. Heading back to WV next weekend with the wife and another couple. I'll what she says about the effect on the passenger.

Re: Aeroflow Aerowings
Sammie went with me on the bike today & she said it seams to be better. We took mostly back roads with little to no traffic so it was not a good test for her. We'll have to wait till we get on the highway for a few hundred miles to see for sure.

Post #45 by AZFoxes has great pictures. My post, 5 OCT: 5'7" / 29" inseam Cee Bailey 20" windshield 75 mile run on back roads and interstate. Nice dead air zone from above the backs of the hands, a couple of inches outboard of the handlebars, down to the knees. Should divert some of the rain that comes in from the sides. Never experienced any instability. Works as expected. Put on another 250 miles since that review with majority on the interstate at speed. Much less turbulence with the AeroWings. |

Re: Aeroflow Aerowings

I have the same combination on my GTL. Put them on just before a BBG from here to Key West and back up to Punta Gorda, FL a couple of weeks ago. I think they made a HUGE difference, probably 60 to 70 % less wind on my arms and shoulders. I hit some rain in southern FL and felt as though they kept most of that off me, although I wouldn't have minded, since it was hot as heck. In fact, they blocked so much wind that I would have taken them off, except I was packed so tight that I had no place to stow them. All in all a big improvement.
