LT Trunk Latch dot com Update...Inventory approaching ZERO!

Just a quick note to the great and supportive people here. I'm ALMOST out of inventory of the Replacement Trunk Latch Handle!

About four years ago, maybe longer, I designed, programmed, and machined 100 kits. There was mismanagement of the product distribution by my partner. It took a good while, but I eventually received my remaining inventory (maybe 45-50 kits). They have been selling well.

Why am I issuing this message? A couple of reasons. It seems Paypal has been "burping" transactions. Both with the Replacement Handle and the "Fix It BEFORE It Breaks" product. People order them and receive an email from Paypal that they ordered it. But the transaction stops right there. Weeks later, I receive email asking, "where's my product that I ordered and paid for?" The answer is that I never got notification, nor payment! So there have been a few of these incidents. More of them lately.

I'll soon change the website. I'm VERY close to being out of the Black Handles and have probably 8 of the "Magnesium" color (silver/gold, 2005 and later). IF you are interested in a handle, please EMAIL me BEFORE you order!!

sales@lttrunklatch.com

Also, I'm delinquent on a few! VERY BUSY with a Department of Defense job with a VERY tough client! I'm trying!

I might do another production run, I might not!

Also, the sales of the "Fix It BEFORE It Breaks" has fallen completely flat because there has been no recent discussion of it here! Help a brother out! I built maybe 166 kits and probably sold 100...so step right up! But please EMAIL first! I'll try to get the Paypal problem resolved!

WHEW!!

Thanks Guys! Great bunch of guys to work with! I appreciate it! I gotta go, I'm in trouble over here!

Best,
Evan Guy

Hey, Evan - something you might consider (and knowing the folks in this community, some prolly already have) is to encourage LT riders to give their respective dealerships a supporting nudge about the availability of your trunk latch fix that is mo-better than having to order a complete trunk, or trunk bottom. Helps the dealer to help a rider/customer in need of a latch fix, which helps the rider in knowing his dealer is willing to offer an alternative fix. Especially keen if warranty is not available.

I know I love my replacement handle.

I only wish I were clairvoyant enough to have ordered the "fix it before it breaks" kit.

Thanks Evan.

Re: LT Trunk Latch dot com Update...Inventory approaching ZERO!

Our 3rd Annual BMWKLTIBMIJOF organizing committee organized a group purchase of the "Fix it before.." kits some weeks before our meeting. We got 12 affiirmative orders and our idea was to arrange a tech session to install few of them as a sample.
Evan supplied us 32 sets and 12 additional were sold during our tech session. I installed about 12 or 15 during a 2 hour session. People took their trunks off and brought them on our two tables and I was like Christiaan Barnard (you know the famous heart surgeon ) installing the kits while my assistants first removed the c-clips. 5-7 minutes / set...

So, as I have urged Evan, you should come to CCR and arrange a demo installation there. People should see your product first and then they get convinced.
It certainly is a great product!

And it really is too bad if PayPal is causing confusion among your customers. It already bad enough that this company is a pretty expensive way of paying as it rips off both seller (in form of comission) and buyer ( in form of lousy exchange rate). You couldn't go to a system where people are paying through their online banks, could you? Or I don't know how well those work on that side of the pond...Perhaps the banks do the ripping off.

Regards

I will be contacting you for an "After" kit, but I need to recover from a few things first. I hope you still have one in the black when I can get it ordered!

All I need is some time.

Re: LT Trunk Latch dot com Update...Inventory approaching ZERO!

I installed one of you Fix I kits and it went great.

I even have a complete latch replacement kit, but opted to buy and use your Fix It kit.

As I said on my write up what a fantastic job of reverse engineering! I was stunned at the reinforcement your kit gave the stock latch. It really is something to behold.

I had no issues with your pay pal at that time, hope you get that straitened out.

Great product and would recommend to anyone.

Re: LT Trunk Latch dot com Update...Inventory approaching ZERO!

Thanks guys!

Ari, you're an animal! You are now THE global EXPERT at the installation of the "Fix It BEFORE It Breaks" Kit! I should sent you some sort of certificate to hang on the wall, or a patch for your jacket!

I've been scrambling to answer inquiries this morning and I am late on shipping a few of these kits! I haven't forgotten, just trying hard to answer all of my current obligations!

OK, as of right now, I have ONE Matte Black Handle Kit! Try Paypal first and send me an email so I can look for the payment to post. I have 7 Black kits sitting here, I have 2 to ship and have been swapping emails with 4 people. So that leaves one.

Gotta go, Thanks Guys!

Ari, who is the guy you were talking about in the US who is the LT expert that sells stuff? I'd like to contact him about selling the FIBIB kits at the CCR.

Best,
Evan

Hi, Damon -

Evan has 'em listed on his vendor site here - might have to click on a couple of the page links there. Good luck.

Re: LT Trunk Latch dot com Update...Inventory approaching ZERO!

FWIW: Installed a Fix-it-before-it breaks today. Because of a dumb error that I have yet to correct, couldn't take the trunk off, so I had to work from the bottom. 64 years and bifocals didn't facilitate anything.

Installation was a breeze after (1) I found the e-clips (which are really, really small and were obscured by crud); and (2) used two long picks instead of screwdrivers to pop them off. The picks worked like a charm.

Gak! Mine just broke. Anyone know where I can find one in Black? I see they're sold out here.

Re: LT Trunk Latch dot com Update...Inventory approaching ZERO!

Weird coincidence:

I'd done the fix-it-before-it-breaks thing a couple of weeks ago. This morning I was sitting at a stop light in my New Beetle and idly glanced at the glove compartment latch. Kinda looked like the trunk latch on my K12LT.

A bit later, I couldn't find my butane lighter for my pipe (I'm a professor so I have to keep up the image) so I opened up the little case between the seats to look for matches (which I had stashed there because professors are also supposed to be absent-minded). There I found a glove compartment latch from the PO who apparentlly had to replace the original.

The design was the same, only smaller in scale. And the failure points were just those that created the need for these kits in the first place.

Small world....

sales@lttrunklatch.com Evans email address

http://www.ascycles.com/detail.aspx?ID=124312

Try A&S cycles, they sell Evans kits and handles as well.

May want to pm or email him as well.

Would be interesting as to what has happened to Evans site. He posted just last month on the site.

actually, without valid DNS records (as it was yesterday), e-mail wasn't going to work either. Today, things are mostly back, but you need to hit it at http://lttrunklatch.com/, the www. prefix doesn't work.

*whew* (though being "between jobs", it's a bad time to buy at the moment)
