Looks like a good crowd for our STC event folks..

Trying to get a head count... Pandora's European Motorsports here in Chattanooga has donated some nice stuff in past couple of years... October and STC as well....

Justin the owner is wanting to give each one a voucher for a discount for any item you may want to purchase online ...Pandora will ship it to you as well...

I stop in at Mike in Tellico Plains as well...he always has some items for us and gives a nice discount...just drop in and say hi and thank him for supporting this event... he ships as well and can order and ship too!

On a side note, Tellico Plains, TN was hit hard during recent tornadoes, so spending a few dollars in Tellico Plains I sure will be appreciated....always a great stop over....

Fast forward to Sunday afternoon. Where did the weekend go?!?

I had a great time seeing all my friends at the Ironhorse. John, Charlene, and the staff put on another excellent weekend for us! They do all the work, so all we have to do is eat, sleep, ride, repeat. Oh, and tell stories and make up stuff! Many thanks to all for making my son, Ryan feel welcome, even though he rides one of those other kind of twins and it's loud.

Jessie and I found some heavy mist on Black Mountain and again west of Morganton. The clouds made the sky look much worse than it was. I felt fortunate to make it home dry.

Hope everyone makes it home safely.

This was my first event at Iron Horse and at STC. I had a great time, notwithstanding the low side slide.

I stopped at Eurosports Asheville to get an estimate of the damages. Approx $4800!!! Almost all cosmetic except for the mirror and windshield lifting mechanism.

Thanks for making feel more welcome than going home to visit family.

I have already told the wife about joining me for the Fall gathering.

Thanks again. It was great to finally put some faces to the screen names.

Glad you made it back Lee and Jessie. Glen look forward to seeing you again in the fall and hope your wife comes along.


I made it back safe and sound in the Bimmer. I did get a Blue Light stop after Ocoee on 64 where it goes to 4 lanes. The limit was 55 and it had just dropped to a 45 where 411 intersects. He tagged me for 68 in a 45 but he put me on Polk County probation for 30 days and gave me a walk! I don't know how I pulled that off but told him he had succeeded in his mission to slow this old fart down a bit.

I had a great time with everyone despite not having a bike and the injury. As always it is the the people that make this group so good. See you all in the Fall for SMFR!!!

I wish I had been so lucky. I got my first driving award ever on a motorcycle. As a matter of fact it's the first time I've ever been pulled over on a bike. I got a 88mph in a 65mph zone. I noticed that the ticket also said raining. It wasn't raining & the pavement was dry. I did have some water drops on the windscreen that he posted on the ticket that had been there since the fog I rode thru. Lucky you John.

Thanks everybody for a great weekend! Got back in the time for the last half of church and was able to sit with my two grandsons, good stuff. I ran into some heavy rain in Charolette but grabbed the far left lane and put everybody else in the rear view. Again a big thanks to the Iron Horse staff, you do it up right. I had another great weekend with everybody at the Iron Horse Lodge. Our group on Friday headed south over the skyway to Tellico Plains TN where we had lunch at Tellico Bakery. After lunch we walked over to Mikes Tellico Motorcycles Outfitters www.tellicomoto.com . Mike supports both the STC & The SMFR every year. After Tellico we rode to Murphy NC, Andrews NC , Franklin NC & back to the lodge. On Saturday we rode north to Hot Springs NC for lunch. Both days added up to almost 500 miles of good two lane roads.

A big thanks to John & Charlene Powell & the staff for making us feel so welcome every year.

Excepting the low-sides and performance awards, sounds like you boys had a good time again at the Iron Horse. Lisa and I were there 2 weeks ago and had spectactular weather except for 1 cloudy day that dropped 4 sprinkles on us.

I've been to Tellico Plains several times but I'm drawing a blank on the bakery. Where is that?

Thanks, Dave (saddleman) for some more great rides. It's good to hear that a lot of you guys are starting to make it back home safe.

This year was a first time event for me. Did the tent camping thing for two nights and along with that there's sometime a negative and I have one. FROGS yes FROGS. BULLFROGS I think there's at least two maybe more. They talked all night back in forth Burr....Burr. Now what the worst listening to saddleman's snoring or them FROGS?

Need tips on Frog Gigging (for you northern boys that hunting frogs) and what the limit in North Carolina?

Al, did you all ride through Fontana and see the downed biker today? Was he OK? His bike was down in the woods.

Well I made it back to MI safe and sound. What a long day! I ran across the Dragon and hit mist, rain, fog, and had a wild boar jump out in front of me and ran down the road a ways! It was around the 40 deg mark for the whole trip and I got real cold, should have bought that Kahtmandu jacket at the outfitters! 14 1/2 hours total time back to MI, this includes stopped traffic around Toledo and Ann Arbor.

Thank you so much all for your hospitality!! You really make this Yankee feel welcome! I enjoyed seeing the guys I met last year, and it was great to make some new friends.

I just wish it wasn't so goll dern, dad burn fer down thar!! It reely is a fir peece down yonder!! Kinda hard ta git to!!!

At least I got my annual fill up of grits!!

Sorry to hear about the prizes given by local constables today. The word was out to save me from such conversations. Every 2 lane road I tried heading home had 2-3 vehicles converging in front of me to keep me at least 10 mph under the posted limits.

I am glad to hear all made it back with no more events other than the performance awards...

I left the IH at 7:09 am and made it home in 11hrs and 10min, fastest time for me yet. I hit mist in the Maggie Valley and heavy rain after Asheville with the temps between 41 and 47 degrees for the next 600 miles home. Like the rest, I kept my hand on the gas and speeds fast enough to clear the water away. For the first time ever, i did not see one cop in NC, VA, MD, PA only one pulling off 81 in WV.

I cant wait till the next STC. hopefully I can make it back to the Smoky Mtns again this year.

That really is a bad ass bakery though.....lol....everything I ate there was bad ass good....

BTW, that's me on far right with Blue BMW cap and red 13GT. First time at Iron Horse and everywhere else down there. Turns out only Harold and I made the pilgrimage, what an incredible experience, the roads are just simply amazing.

I too am one of the "Low Side Boys"....it happens....great time non the less, great bunch of people you all are.

I look forward to next year, as I now plan on skipping Americade 2013 so I can stay at Iron Horse 2 times in 2013.
