Bike Salvaged
All the equipment All the time ATEATT... Protective gear saved my hide.
A used 01 LT (in good shape) went down recently and after the insurance claims adjuster finalized, it was determined totalled. Most of it due to the expense of parts and labor and being over 70% of bike market value. Insurance will determine payoff (which oddly does not come from NADA or Kelly) but from market conditions, craigs list, ebay, cycle trader and region, time of year, etc. I can buy the bike back for 30 cents on the dollar. Mechanically it is sound at 79,000 miles.. no problems with transmission or engine. In fact, I think the thing runs better now than it ever did. Any experience here from the Forum?, or would it be best to take the money and plop it down on a 06-08 model?,, take another road trip and ride it home. No one seems to be able to advise.

Re: Bike Salvaged
If you have the time & space to do it. Take the check , buy back the bike . With the remaining money put a down payment on another bike. Then part out the old one.

Re: Bike Salvaged
The short answer is "It depends"
If it was me I'd do it. I'm working on my third salvaged LT now. but that's me.

Re: Bike Salvaged
How's your final drive doing? I don't need it but might be nice to have on the back burner!!!!!
If your FD is good, I'd say buy it back for salvage and send the final drive to me! If your FD is no good, the electro-hydraulic center stand is pretty darn nice.... Seriously, if it were me I'd buy it back and part it out then buy a newer one. Glad you're all right! Loren

having repaired many wrecks in my career, I say get a new bike. too many small issues that you don't expect often come up.
