Anyone tried these with their radio/phone on bike yet..

Concerned about voice capability while in motion on bike ?

Re: LG Bluetooth Headsets

I've heard of it being tried but never heard the final results, I doubt they were good. I use my LG HBS-750 around the house daily, but I admit I never tried it on the bike.

The earbuds do not block much, if any, ambient noise, so I wear ear muffs over them even when running a vacuum cleaner, to avoid needing excessive volume levels. Ditto for mowing grass, power tools in the shop, cranky wife, etc. I cannot think of any way to provide hearing protection while wearing these and a helmet.

The microphone is on the portion hanging around my neck, so it would either be under my jacket or out in the wind - outside my helmet in either case. In addition, without noise cancelling circuitry to remove ambient noise picked up by the microphone (like a Sena has) I doubt you could be understood by the other party on a phone call.

Re: LG Bluetooth Headsets

If you want voice on the bike, go with a Sena or Scala Rider. It's going to be more expensive, but it'll be worth the extra cost.

If you wait a month or so, I can let you have my SENA SMH10 for a really low price! I am going to get the new (yet to be released) SENA 10c EVO, which has the latest bluetooth technology as well as a very compact built-in camera. Right now, I have the SMH10 mounted to the left side of the helmet, and the SENA Prism (camera) on the right side.

BTW, if you are interested in the SMH10, it will have two helmet mounts (the standard, plus one with earbud output) as well as a set of (higher quality) 3rd party speakers (Torx).

Sena 10R works great for me or music (from iPhone) & voice (Nav V).

Re: LG Bluetooth Headsets

I've got a Scala Rider G9 and I love it. I do know that I had to play with speaker placement in the helmet before I got music to sound good through it. Perhaps that's the issue with your Sena 5?

People often miss that one! It's amazing as to how just a tiny shift in the speaker placement will affect the quality of the sound!
Whiskey likes this.

Re: LG Bluetooth Headsets

The other cost effective improvement to in helmet speakers is foam ear plugs. The plugs block out the wind noise so you can increase the speaker's volume without the discomfort that would normally be associated with that volume level.
