I got hold of the PO. Here is what he said about seat material "The russle saddle is their special “vinyl” that is equivalent to BMW material. I had them sell me extra of that material. I believe it’s called “graige”. The speakers and the knee pads were all custom covered by a coach works company in Nazareth."

The later seats are not as wide as the early seats. The bottom of the seat pan has grooves that are different in the early bikes as the Tupperware under the seat has a vertical component that hides the gap between seat and main body. With what Russell does to either I do not think it would make any difference. I added the "fatboy" spring on mine (over 250 at the time). Seat is now over 10 years old and still great.

I would be interested in a copy of your valve clearance spreadsheet. I've been nervous about digging this deep into the bike, but I'm not paying the stealership to do it! My email addy is: w.wiedman@mchsi.com

    Thanks!

    Matt,

Unfortunately that site went belly up. It was started by Randy who originally created this one. Not sure what happened it just went away. It was "Ride.us".

    Hi Matt,
My name is Tom, I also am very familiar withe Voyager XII, still have my '02.
I bought an '02 K1200LTE about a month ago, always wanted one love the looks. Bike had less than 20k miles, immaculate, PO just spent almost $3,000 on BMW service, new clutch, battery, filters,,, etc.

Besides still not being able to get the bike on the center stand, been pretty happy with it. Now comes the real questions and why I am sending this message. As a previous Voyager XII owner how do you compare the bikes?
I have noticed it seems to catch the side wind and seems unstable when it does.
I am trying to decide whether I feel safer on the Kawa or the BMW, I am going to take a long trip next month...

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated
