    John: Happy New Year.
Thanks to your help, I've re-built the EHCS unit w/ new motor and new seals. The shaft somehow got galled pretty badly, plus I grabbed it w/ vice grips the first time, not realizing there was a 9mm flat to grab. I smoothed and polished the shaft and have re-filled w/ oil a couple of times. It will work successfully a few times, then starts to stutter until I give it a boost w/ my legs.

I'm assuming next step is to replace that shaft & the seal. Do you have any extra shafts?

Thanks, yes the front tire has started to waffle left/right alternate cupping.
Has about 8000 miles on it. I had wondered if that could have any affect.

Odd that it does the vibration to one side and not the other.

The rear has about 500 looks new.

    As usual, much appreciated.

    HI John,

I have a question that would likely not be answerable by someone else... my 2003 k1200lt.

I have noticed when in a right lean I feel what I can loosly describe as a bearing vibration.

It's not there when riding straight up or leaning left.

Any Ideas what I should chase?

As always thank you for your input.

Ours is a 2000, That is kind of what I thought, It protects those long studs that the centerstand is connected to. Thanks John

    Hi John,
I have a question. Does the skid plate do anything structrual other than protect the centerstand from being broken off?

    Thanks

John, Hope you are well and riding a bunch. We have been all over CO and AZ and UT and NM the last few weeks having a blast. Yesterday the bike starting overheating for the first time-red light on. Only overheats on an incline (of which there are many here!) or slow traffic. Moving, we seem to be fine. I filled the overflow tank and it doesn't move-tried to blow the fluid from overflow tank and nothing budged. I felt the radiator hose and it didn't feel as though there was ANY water in it-possible to have NO water? I'm cleaning the fins of the radiator now, taking the rear foot plate off to see if the overflow line is plugged. I think can sneak the cap off and add some fluid, but staying in a remote cabin with only a few days more before heading to the flatland and home. I'd like to get these last few days of riding! Thoughts? If you have time, quick call? 262-893-6006 Dave Bullock

    Hi John,

Do you know what the key differences are between the early model rider and passenger seats (03 in particular) and the later models (my 07)? Anything that would make one or the other a better platform for an RDL?

    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi John, Mike here (KBMWGT).

I was the one that posted about the brake wear warning light.
I really want to thank you for your explaintion on how to turn it off but...

I'm an electrical idiot. Where do I find the ZFE?
Jump wire means?? will the Pin 27 of J1 be obvious?

I'm scared of zapping my bike to smitherines.

can you walk and idiot thru this?

    your quote:
"just go direct to the ZFE module and jump wire on pin 27 of J1 (brown/black) to wires on pins 34 (brown/red/yellow) and pin 35 (brown/red/white)."

    Hi, John.

Bill Key here over in Gurley. I know you gotta be just about sick of hearing from me but I need a little help.

I'm working with Dave Selig to get my rear drive rebuilt and I've run up against a tool problem.

As I'm sure you know very well, to put the thing back into my bike, you gotta have a special tool.

I asked him if I could get one made, pay for it and he ship it to me with my RD for general mid-South population use but he can't get them made any more.

But he says he thought that you may well have one and might loan it out. I'd be happy to leave a direct replacement sized deposit and come pick it up and return it to your house.

Anyway, whatchasay? I won't need it for a couple of weeks...it'll take that long to learn to get mine outta the bike and send it to him, he to repair it and then send it back.

Anyway, let me know, please. Thanks,

    Bill

    HI John,

It took me some time but I finally got around to tearing into things again.

Gemi Sent me 2 chips and suggested the one marked 2003-2005 was right for my 2003 K1200lt.
Turns out after having to go back and changing it again to the 2001-2003 Chip, it was the right one for my bike. Computer number 7 659 048.

While I'm in the middle of this round I changed the air filter and the Fuel filter and the Internal Fuel lines.
I am currently at 16000 Miles and decided it was time look at the Valve Clearance.
Intakes are all .006 or .007.
But my Exhausts are .009 except for the rear most bucket on the 4 cylinder which is .010.

Is .009 so tight that I need to Change all those buckets? Can I wait till 36000 to check again?

Thanks again for all your insight.

    Mr J,
[what would you recommend here? I posted this over on i-bmwr where i usually hang out. Thank you for your time and experience]

    Alright gentlemen,
I bought the GT and did the valve adjustment (60kmi) in Jan 2015.
Fwd 20k miles/3yrs and it seems I have another 6 buckets to buy?
Bought 7 thr first time around and replaced all the 290s!
Now I'm looking at buying another 6 buckets? BS..!
Along w/fuel sys & Wilber rebuild, plus whatever else I'm simply frustrated with the results and thought I might need MAYBE 1 or 2 buckets, Maybe!

What would you do? (other than I 4B for sure)

OK Young Fella, I have tried 3 times, unsuccessfully, to send you email at k4an@mchis.com with photos of the seat covers. I"m guessing that your email is set up to only receive input from known addresses in your contacts list or something like that. Anyway, here's the deal. The seat covers were purchased new from the dealer and sell for $500 and change. I'd like $200 for the set and I'll split the shipping cost 50/50 with you. My email is jlkeen1@gmail.com if you send me an email I may be able to REPLY and send you the pics. Let me know if you would like to proceed. Lynn
