Headlight replacement H7 motovision bulbs

I recently purchased a Philips "Moto Vision" motorcycle H7 bulb to help with distance and visibility for my LT. Has anyone had history with the orange color bulbs and if they will indeed work in the LT headlight assembly? I am worried about it over heating and melting parts. It's still a 55w bulb , how much damage could it do?

I have a friend I ride with. He rides a Suzuki with the orange tinted bulbs. His are made by PIAA. Daytime they stand out in orange tint. Night time I did not notice that orange tint as much. I assume the give more distance but I do not know much about the PIAA orange motorcycle bulbs. As far as heat they should be no more than OEM if you retain same 55w bulbs. I just upgraded my High beam to a Sylvania Silver Star Ultra. Main beams are OEM.
I have no issues at night. Since my lights are always on I do not want to invest in a small fortune replacing H7 bulbs. H7's are popular bulbs and if one blows out I carry a spare and worst case I can always find a Walmart or auto store for a road side replacement. For this reason I decided to stay away from HID's. I plan on getting the Glenda LED's as a supplement in due time.

Most go to the HID unit as they draw less current, produce more light and are cooler. If you buy quality they will last a very long time (8 years + so far).

But to answer your question - it is a 55 watt bulb which is the same as stock so it should not melt anything.

Gary, great mountain biking just up the road from your camp at Big Recreation Area. Have had a blast there.

The HID install looks intimidating but really not too difficult. I have done two of them.

I recommend the HID from Xenon Depot who is a sponsor on this site as well. Install is easy and customer service is good as well. May be the best upgrade I've made to the 05 LT. Believe there is discount code for ordering as well. Try BMWLT

Uuuuuum. Even though the bulb bases are the same, H7, the rumor I remember is that because HID bulbs do not produce light in the exact same place as the bulb your are replacing, and our headlights focus the light, your beam will not be focused (mine isn't). Mine is brighter, especially good at illuminating road signs, but I rely upon my PIAAs to fill in the close to me areas.

I have seen spacer to try and make it better. And, I've seen claims that the knock-off HID bulbs have less illumination that Phillips. Phillips does not make a H7 base, so the bulb's base has to be modified. And, the Phillips socket is different than the H7's, so one needs a pig tail designed for the Phillips bulb.

Doing that conversion is on my list of winter projects for when I have the nose cone off.

I've also seen rumors that the clone ballast-starters are less than ones made in Germany. There is however a current production ballast close to the Phillips ones.

If you scan enough, maybe using HID projectors, you'll find these rumor mills.
