Re: Steps - Changing Front Brake Pads
I just replaced the front pads on my 00.
Remove the two bolts holding the caliper in place. Push the caliper against the disc brake to push the pistons in. They have to be pushed in enough so that the pads will slip over the disc brake--very tight fit to get the caliper past the well.
I used C-lamps to push the pistons in; worked like a charm on the first pad.
The second one was a real PITA!
I'd push in one piston and its mate would extend. Two C-clamps got the pistons on one side pushed in. But one of the pistons on the opposite side of the caliper extended.
I struggled in vain trying to get the pads over the disc brake.
Eventually it occurred to me to open the speed bleeder!
I was then able to compress all four pistons and get the dam thing over the disc and bolted back in.
