Anyone use PIAA 74121 Driving Light Mounting Bracket?

I'm going to put some LED driving lights on the upper front of my 2000 KLT. I want them mounted on the inside upper front.

Has anyone used these mounting brackets from PIAA? They say "made vehicle specific" but there are no reviews on any site that I can find. PIAA is very well known and proud of their stuff "$$$". I found these on amazon for $60 new. Seem like a good deal to accomplish my goal without fabricating them myself.

I had some fork mounted lights on my K75 years ago and they stayed tight and gave me years of service. The upper fairing mount will eliminate the issue of vibration and front tire changes.

Anyone have some pictures of what they look like installed. The picture below has the brackets hidden in the shadows. Thanks

Re: Anyone use PIAA 74121 Driving Light Mounting Bracket?

Mark, I about choked at the pride PIAA has for their lights and as good as they are, I just couldn't bring myself to pay that much. I ended up buying these and mounted them under the bumper wings and they are quite bright, 900 lumens each. Just want to throw these out there as they might work with that mount up under the front.

I too wanted some more light shining forward for visibility and they do a pretty good job of lighting the road up close being mounted that low. I made the mounting plate and ignore the scuffed up bumper. Most of that was the PO. Most

Hey Gordon; I didn't say I was going to use their lights! I too think they are over-priced. The lights I want to use are the exact ones you have in your link. Great Minds! I want them mounted inside the front fairing. Thus, PIAA mounting brackets.

Thanks for finding the LINK. That's what I was looking for.

There are some that look the same and cost less but only boast 800 lumens each. No idea if they are the same or not.

I ordered another set that was brighter but I didn't read the fine print and they have 3 modes ( like the flashlights) and I wasn't going to put a switch on them specifically beyond the accessory relay connection so I couldn't flip them on and off to get them from mode to mode and I certainly didn't want a flashing mode.

Send pics if you go ahead with it.

Just make sure, whatever light you mount on my old bracket, that it's footprint and relative space occupied is no larger than the space that would have been occuppied by the PIAA Lamp housing..especially in the vertical...

Jim, may I assume you are the designer of the said bracket? If so, do you have the specs of the PIAA light vertically? The trail OZ LED lights measure 3 - 3/4 inches from the bracket down to the lowest point on the front of the light.

body measures appx 2 & 3/16's outer edge to edge. that will not include on a vertical scale from base of foot to bottom of light. I have some spare lights in garage, can measure precise distance for you tomorrow...

OK, the measurement I took was from the top of the mount down to the lowest point on the light.

Re: Anyone use PIAA 74121 Driving Light Mounting Bracket?

That is not accurate for the PIAA 1100X light body. My point was, bracket design was developed and light was placed on bracket at a position where there would be adequate clearance during all normal operations, including full turn lock. Anything exceeding that vertical dimension/height may produce fender contact at some time under some conditions....

I understand that. That is why we need the PIAA dimensions to compare them with the OZ light bodies. They may not be compatible as far as fitment but if they are, they would be a good lower cost substitute.

just measured my piaa 1100 on that mount, it is 2 3/4 inch. from the bracket to the light, don't think I would put an inch longer light on them

Thanks for the feedback. Those are real numbers. I was concerned about the clearance. I think the LED lights that Gordon has mounted and measured could be modified "a little". We shall see.

Q; Are there any other "reasonably priced" 900 lumen LED lights that anyone has used? Are there any other options for those brackets?

Nice brackets! I like the location and I'm determined to have lights mounted on them.

I still have a few sets of these brackets out in the garage. Could not throw them away after closing down. Anyone needs some, let me know. I will let them go for $25 each set, plus s&h....

Re: Anyone use PIAA 74121 Driving Light Mounting Bracket?

I have those brackets on my bike with some little led light that I got off eBay. They don't really put out much light to drive by but that wasn't what I was looking for. I wanted to be seen and my riding friends tell they really help with visibility. I had some Hella lights on there at first and I think on a big bump they would hit . No problems with these lights.

Do you still have any mounts that you would sell?

Re: Anyone use PIAA 74121 Driving Light Mounting Bracket?

Hi, I have those exact brackets which were perfect for the old and discontinued PIAA units shown in the photo. I replaced the units with new LED 270s. Those brackets fit the bike perfectly, but they don't fit the much larger 270s. I'm trying to fabricate an attachment to fit. In fact, that's #1 on tomorrow's to-do list.

When mounting larger diameter lights around the fender area, be cautious and allow adequate clearance for fork movement in all directions. Ride safe....

And currently I have the fairings off, so if I can help with precise measurements, let me know
