Re: electric fail

Welcome to the forum. I might be tempted to pull the battery for a half an hour or so and then reinstall. Was the battery left in during storage and was it on a battery tender? Very strange.

Re: electric fail

I would disconnect the battery first. Leave it disconnected at least a few hours or overnight. See if the problem goes away after you reconnect the battery. The motorcycle may run rough for a few miles after that. That's normal.

If disconnecting the battery doesn't work, then the next thing I would do is check cable connections. I had problems with the left handlebar switches on my 2007 K1200GT. The technician reached under the dash; then he disconnected and reconnected a cable bundle there. It fixed my problem (switches did not work). There are other cables that connect to the onboard computer that are also worth checking.

After that, then I would think about the onboard computer as a possible root cause. Swapping onboard computers with a friend who has the same model motorcycle may or may not work. If your friend's motorcycle is older, then it probably won't work in your motorcycle.
