Seriously considering the satellite radio. For those of you who have tried it which do you think is better, the XM or Sirius? Just looking at the web sites the Sirius seems to have an advantage. No, not because of Howard Stern, I hate that guy. I loves my music and this definitely seems to be the way to go. No commercials. How sweet is that? Thanks for any advice.

Both systems offer commercial free music on most of not all channels. I have had XM on the bike and in the cars for 3 years now and love it, and have never heard a commercial anywhere. They've also recently added a couple of music channels I like.
What drives a lot of decisions on this choice is the offering of news and talk channels as they carry different ones with varying views. If your main interest is music then they're about even.

I have XM on the bike and Sirius in la trucka. The DJ's seem to blabber more on Sirius and the classic rock on XM is better. The comedy channels do have commercials. I remember when cable tv first came out, their selling point was no commercials.

I have Sirius and really enjoy it on the bike. I've given up on the Ipod!
I think eventually both XM and Sirius will have commercials. The money is just too tempting. I hear that you can get XM for $3.99 a month versus Sirius for 9.99 per month.
I've said this many times on this forum, the best thing about Satellite radio is the ability to listen to whatever type of music you like for the entire length of your ride. I went from NY to NC without switching stations. The 80's Classic Rewind Channel rocks!

Thanks for the tips. I also see they both have a 3 day free trial on the puter. Will try that.
Thanks,

Check the channel line-ups and see if there's any particular programming that's a must have for you. I find that I listen to alot of talk radio when I'm doing long distance riding, so I bounce between CNN, XM Comedy, and when it's in season I listen to NHL Center Ice. On my ride last month, I caught a few of the Stanley Cup semi-finals games on the radio ... not quite as good as watching them live, but it worked out better than I would have thought.
XM works for me, but if you're a Howard Stern or NASCAR fan, Sirius might be a better match.

XM does, but only for the music channels I believe. I know I can't get the news or sports channels on the online service.

I would go for the one with the best deal when you get ready to buy. I have XM and have friends with Sirius. Both seem comparable in programming. I went with XM because Circuit City had a hardware deal that was best for me. $75 rebate on the radio that included one cradle and a free Roady II for the girlfriends car. They also had a buy one get one free on optional cradles. Now I have one radio for each vehicle and a cradle for the boat and the LT.
I pay yearly and I think it's $4.95 per month per vehicle.

Ok,
I have had XM since early 2000, when It had first came out, and I paid over 300.00 for my XM receiver, had a big shark fin antenna on the top of my truck.
I ONLY listened to Stand-up comedians, and then a little talk. At the time it was 9.99/mo and I got a discount by paying annually.
It was 6.99 for each additional unit on your plan up to 4 units. After approximately 2yrs I went to the new Roady and they were priced much better at around 99.00 so I bought another, and then a couple months later they had the Roady2 buy one get one free plan. So, I did that taking me to my 4radio maximum.
Opie and Anthony came to XM for a premium of 1.99/mo. So, I added that to my setup and shortly after this they went to all the premium channels included in the monthly rate and then raised the montly rate to 12.99(excludes the adult crap). I was also paying 3.99/mo to listen to ALL channels on the Computer at work. This was also INCLUDED into the new 12.99/mo rate.
I now currently employ 6 units, and just ordered a 7th to mount on my LT. I still pay annually and the rate is normally. 575.xx/annually for the 6 radios. They however charged me only 410.00 by paying annually. When I called to inquire about rate changes and adding the 7th unit, I was told that I would not be charged ANYTHING for the 7th unit. Not even the activation fee(which I have NEVER paid on ANY unit). To avoid Activation, just tell them that Sirius doesn't charge it and you will return your unit and buy a Sirius unit and they will waive it(vice versa if you buy sirius) (Currently around 4.90/mo/radio)
So, all in all, yea I pay a lot, but I have a radio in my company truck, my truck, my wifes car, boat, and both of my parent's vehicles.(christmas presents) So, now the LT.
I swear by XM, I have never had a problem, I had a unit stolen out of my company truck and when I called them to cancel the radio ID and service to it, they asked if I was going to get a replacement, and I told them "yea, when I can afford it" they sent me another Roady 2 free.
XM is a great Company, although I hold stock for the "lil doggy company"
A lot of blah blah blah in this post, but just info and almost a 7yr background on the service I have received.
