Here are a couple of pictures for those of you who can't make it to Americade. Personally, this may be my last year. I love this area for riding, but the whole Americade thing has run it's course for me....

Anyway, picture #1 is a pretty typical day on Main St, picture #2 is a chopper with a magnetic tank bag?!, picture #3 is a 'busa with stretched frame and triple NOS bottles, etc.....

I saw a guy on a Wing pulling a flatbed trailer with a miniature Corvette on it. All was painted in the same color scheme. Looked pretty cool!

The famous Heid's motorcycle shop in Johnstown. They were an authorized BMW dealer up to a few years ago.... REALLY nice people!

Had to cancel my Americade plans this year when our daughter decided to wrap her car around a telephone pole (some broken bones, nothing permanent, thankfully).

I was wondering: how is the Lake George area for riding the rest of the summer? Obviously, during Americade week, the drivers seem to be pretty aware of the bikes (difficult not to, I guess!) but how are they at other times? Lake George seems to have something going on about every week during the summer - is there a "quiet" time up there for taking a long weekend and just enjoying the riding along those wonderfully scenic roads?

I don't know if there is a quiet time, but having been there many, many times besides Americade week, There is really very little traffic on the county and state roads. Rts. 28, 8 and 30 to the west and south are beautiful. Rt. 9N north along the lake is busy only until Bolton Landing then not bad at all, but is a beautiful ride along the lake to Ticonderoga. On the east side of the lake 22N south is nice and goes through lots of farms. Or, cross over into Vermont and take Rt.7 south.

During wth week, things quiet down alot, but the weekends are still busy all summer long. After Labor Day is a great time to go and the rides in the Fall get prettier and prettier.

Jim: I arrived just before lunchtime about 11:45. Met Gerrard there. Bought an oil filter. Sorry to see they are no longer a dealer.

Lots of good riding anywhere past Albany. Even on I-87 north of Lake George.. You can also head out into the Adirondack Park or run up NY 22 on the east side of Lake George to Ticonderoga to Lake Champlain. You can spend a few days in loop through Adirondack Park to Potsdam and then back along US 11 to Lake Champlain and over the lake on a Ferry then down to Mass via the Interstate out of Burlington VT.. great ride all the way down Mass or even better over to Lincoln NH.

I would have reservations in July and August anywhere up there...
