I'm just looking to get the ball rolling. We have another week of beautiful fall weather and just spent 2 weekends on the coast, anyone got a good restaurant in the foothills. Is it too soon to go to Poor Reds again?

I've been there before. Who hasn't stopped by Buttercup when they are passing through Placerville on their way home from skiing, riding, South Lake, or Apple Hill? Good good and great pie too. :p

I think I might just have to try and make that run! I can taste the Pie Now! :p
How many miles would I need to run to burn those calories off????? I'm thinking around twelve......That'll only take a week :o

Just have a diet Coke with your pie. That will neutralize the calories.
It's Tuesday and not much traffic on this topic. There are a number of scenic ways to get to Placerville from all every direction of the compass. It's not exactly in my backyard! ;)

Should we meet at the Arco on Bradshaw at 6:15 to leave NLT 6:30 and do a nice ride around Hwy. 49?

Sounds like a fine idea. Placer County riders might consider coming down on Hwy 49 from Auburn. Not a bad fall foilage ride either. They don't take reservations but I gave them a heads-up for 12-20 at 7:30pm. ;)

Had a great ride home.....Until:
About 5 miles from home...this guy flew out in front of me on Fry road while I was doing about 70 MPH. Scarred the begezzus out of me and cracked my headlight cover in half...I guess it's better than buying a new headlight! He was a bueatiful bird and I hate to see him harmed. (Read: Dead), on a possitive note, he didn't crack my windshield :)

Glad it was the headlight cover and not you. Take it to a taxidermist and have it mounted. It's a beautiful owl.

After thinking about a little longer....I was very lucky. I can't think of a better spot to take an impact like that. anywhere else would have probably resulted in some type of damage more difficult to repair than a headlight cover. He hit the headlight dead smack in the middle. No paint scratches, no broken Aux Lighting or windshield....... What are the chances?

Imagine, killing the Hooters mascot like that.......
Well, bag him and refrigerate him so you can have him mounted. Don't leave it in the garage at room temperature! Every cat in the neighborhood will be singing at your door before daybreak.

Hey for once it wasn't me!
The last large bird I hit was a Hawk about that size on I-5. Hit the turn signal lense and left white goooooo all down the side of the LT - No Damage except the Hawg was also KIA.

Lose the owl.
Illegal to even posses most hawks and owls, even if dead and stuffed (endangered animal)without permits.
Check with Fish and Game before posting more pictures.
Should have bought some lottery tickets or stopped at the Casino immediatly while your lucky streak was hot.

After doing a little research...It's a common barn owl. The only owl's on the endangered species list are these two.
Owl, great gray (Strix nebulosa)
Owl, northern spotted (Strix occidentalis caurina)
Good call though. Last thing I need is the wife answering the door for the Fish and game and or Hooters Girls!!! Anyone have any idea how much it cost to get one stuffed.......The bird, I mean.
Cute Nelson...real cute!
