On my K1200LT 2003 the fuel tank(gas cap) cover or flap ,lock?, keeps pulling out the female tab that it plugs into, any fixes or ideas. Did not find in a search. thanks Jim

Mine (2002) does this on occasion too.
Open the flap. The Flap has a male prong. The base has a hole.
Run your finger over the hole a few times and make sure the two little pieces pop up even with the top.
It should now hold.
I think those two little pieces (Which get pushed to the side when the prong is inserted while closing the flap) just get a little sticky and don't pop back. Then you close the flap, and it starts a flappin.

They actually break inside, its not just adjustment. It needs a new part.

They can do both. Mine is not broken, it just sticks once in awhile.
If it is broken, it will need a new part.

A shot of WD40 every 5 years keeps mine working fine.

Ditto. Maybe once a year. The "receiving" end of the fuel door prong sticks every time I use it. A shot of oil or a shot of air clears it up nicely, until it happens again. I just take the key and tap the tabs until they pop back into place.

Had the same problem. Being located in the great SW, there is a little dust that blows around now and then... Gotta clean the dirt out once in a while. I use the air in a can stuff for the computer followed by a little spray lube.

My broke do to blunt force trauma... I replaced the part, think it was around $13 bucks or so...

Flush it out with lots of isopropl alcohol, then a little squirt of WD40.

If you have had the right side tupperware off, check to see if all is tucked in correctly around the gas cap area. I once had a problem with the cover not latching right and/or coming loose and flapping in the breeze. Turns out there was a rubber thingy around the gas cap that wasn't tucked in right when I put the tupperware back on.

Ditto! I got tired of playing with it. The same pieces of velcro has worked for two years!
What did you old timers do before this miracle tape?
