What are some of the recommended shopping sites in and around San Diego for bike gear and accessories, besides the dealer? I'm looking for a cooler mesh outfit to compliment my Aerostich Darien for my ride to Dallas on Wed. I'd like to actually try on things before I buy.
I went to Fun Bike Center yesterday. Not much of a selection but they are going to have new stock in this afternoon. Was not overly impressed with the knowledge level and customer service for the short time I was in there so I'm looking for recommendations. Also don't have a ton of time to get around to everything in the phone book.

In a related item. Know of any locals that deal with the FM helmet line? I have the Silencer II for Baehr made by FM. Would like to get some parts and shield for it.

Thank you,

Cycle Gear, three locations. One on Convoy, another on Fletcher Parkway in El Cajon, and another in Escondido. Near the Escondido one is also Cycleport, 970 W Valley Pkwy # 483.

Another place with pretty good selection is Cycle Parts West, on El Cajon Blvd, just west of I-805.

It's a short drive (on an LT anyway), but Chaparral up in San Bernadino, off the I- 215 (www.chaparral-racing.com) is the best I know of if you want to find a satisfying variety of in stock gear to try on. BMW MC of North County ( www.bmwmcnc.com ) has some of the german stuff for you to try.

Although they don't have a showroom, Cycleport (www.motoport.com) is located in San Marcos. They have (IMHO) the best riding gear, mesh and solid Kevlar. You can stop right in there (call first) and get custom fitted and see it being assembled - you'll have to wait a while for delivery, though. I stopped in and found an Air-Mesh Kevlar jacket that fit me perfectly, right on their rack, and was out the door with it.

Happy shopping!

Thanks for the posts. I ended up at Cycle Gear on Convoy and purchased a First Gear Mesh jacket and pants $130.00 each. We'll see how they do.

Any idea on where to get supplies for my FM Helmet?? No one seems to even have heard of it at these local shops.
