:( I've broken the prong off the inside of the door which holds it shut. The broken piece is lodged in the latch. This seems like a pretty flimsy setup so I'm sure it's happened to some other K 1200 LT owners. Does anyone have any tips on how to keep the door closed other than buying a new one and probably having the same thing happen later on? Velcro, magnets, other?

Believe this is the first I've heard of the lid prong goin' south. For a replacement lid, check around the several re-cycler sites (beemerboneyard, etc). In the meantime, velcro will work and several folks have done that temporary fix when the prongholder thangie went toast.

Wonder what a new lid costs, anyway. Shouldn't be a lot?! Doesn't have BMW logo on it!! :bmw:

Just checked, the flap is $23. Not too bad.

If you speak to somebody at BMW and they want to tell you the truth, they will admit that the fuel door and the mirror thingy in the topcase are not up to standard, and if you complain long and maybe loud enough, they will replace it free of charge.
