Hello All,
Well, here it is. I created an adapter that uses the existing round 4 pin connector for the Street Pilot III to work with the Garmin 2730. You may ask, why did I do this??? First, I did not want to replace the already installed wiring. Secondly, if I ever sell the LT, I will put back on the SPIII and keep the 2730. It is a simple plug and go adapter.
It took me a long time to figure this one out, but I finally got it licked. I hope some of you out there can benefit from this one.
4 pin Round connector
Only used 2 of the 4 pins, power and ground
8 Pin Slide connector
Pin 1 is Positive (Red)
Pin 2 is Positive (Black)
Pin 7 is Speaker Neg (White)
Pin 8 is Speaker Pos (Brown)
Audio Plug is a 2.5mm inline jack, mono (NOT stereo)
From Garmin, I purchased the motorcycle mounting kit. This fit perfectly to my existing bracket for the SPIII. The adapter was custom made using the cable provided by the motorcycle mounting kit. The 4 pin round plug was provided my http://www.pfranc.com. Take a look at these guys, they have some cool stuff.
Please ask any questions, I will be glad to assist.
