Went to the local Pizza Pub in our neighborhood last night just like every week. Got a small pepperoni pizza (with onions and cooked for a little longer to crisp up the excellent crust) and a pitcher of amber. Enjoyed the meal with my lovely wife and, as usual, had a great waiter (a kid we have come to know and respect). Said waiter is really a good kid and gives me hope for the future generation.
Anyhoo, Danny confirms our order without our having to actually say anything and mentioned:
"Hey, the last time you guys were in here, remember you left about this much amber in the pitcher (holding up two fingers horizontally)???? Well, as you were walking out the door, another customer walked up to me and wanted to know if it was okay for him to drink the last bit of amber that was left!!!"
Of course, I told him that was against the rules and I would be happy to sell him his own pitcher or bottle!...I just could NOT believe he did that!!"
Anybody ever had that happen...er...or actually done that? At least he had his priorities straight...hate to see perfectly good beer poured down the drain!!! ROTFLMAO!!!

The most amazing thing I ever saw topped that, so there are some pretty uncouth people out there.
My wife and I were eating at a seafood restaurant once, sitting at one of the tables right next to the line waiting for a table. There was a pretty "redneck" looking couple in line, fat, tee shirts and jeans. At the table right next to mine the guy reached over the rail, took a shrimp off the plate and ate it, then said" Hey, that is pretty good, think I will get it too." The couple at the table was so shocked all they could do was sit there stunned. My wife and I were also pretty shocked, and when he got to our table we looked at him pretty sternly, but you could tell he was totally clueless.
If he had reached over the rail at our table he would have not liked the result I can tell you!

Long long time ago one of the guys that rode with us was kinda "dirty" on a good day. No personal hygiene at all. He liked it that way and it worked good to match the lifestyle he was after. We were at Natural Bridge Caverns just outside of San Antonio. We were thinking about taking the tour when they called for group # 3 and a bunch of folks got up and left half eaten hotdogs and fries on the plate. Perry walked into the restaurant part, picked up a plate and went through picking up leftover food like it was a buffet. He came back with a LOT of fries and a bunch of eaten on hotdogs and hamburgers. Chomped'em down.
The rest of us paid for our food.

I was in the restaurant, catering and hotel business for a long time, owner and employee. I could tell you the most amazing stories. I would have to say the worst habitual problem is the employees using the "Bustub Buffet". It is so nasty to see the employees eat off of plates returning from customers tables. No matter how many you fire, how much you threaten or embarrass it still happens. Most restaurants give a huge discount on the menu or a "free" daily menu, chefs choice, to move the stuff that will go bad soon. Or cheap meals like burgers, dogs and grilled cheese that is on the kids menu. Inevitably that left over shrimp, lobster tail or steak is too much temptation for some.

:D Back in the late 80's went to Americade; road trip to Bromley Mt in Vt with the a large group 250 bikes; lunch included. Pouring rain all week and this day was no exception. Ride started at 0800 and lunch at Bromley was at noon. Soaked, cold, starving and bunched together we patiently waited for our luncheon meal. Turned out to be a box lunch containing a white bread sandwich with two slices of ham and a piece of swiss; mouthful of chips and an apple.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!! This isn't enough to fill a mouse!
There were a couple of folks who refused to eat their sandwich so I ask; "You folks going to eat that??" Nope... came the reply and they handed it over. Woofed it down quick with many thanks!
Some kids will simply eat anything... :D
Lots more food stories but don't want to offend the sensitivities of the sophisticates here... ;)
