The wife and I are getting ready to take our first long trip on our new LT (about 4.5 Hrs) through the back roads of Ohio to Lexington, KY. Since we are not that experienced and there are many wise folks here, what are some good pointers. Just had my 600 mile service (at about 900 mi). The bike has 1300 now.
Thanks guys:)

Your most direct option of getting to Lexington once in Kentucky other than interstate is Rt 27 which is a nice road but there are so many other side roads to explore. Several routes out of Cynthiana. Great riding! Other roads are 62 and 460. Just get lost and enjoy the beautiful horse country.

Hi
My advice is to take more breaks than if you were riding alone!! When my wife is with me we stop twice as often. But I'm just glad shes riding with me.
Have Fun, and hope you can make it to Howards in June for the tech session, I'm looking forward to that.

Don't know the area, but can give some advice on the ride:
take breaks.
I would say every one hour or so, stop for 5 to 10 minutes as Glen already wrote.
You don't want tha wife to be tired. Once she is tired two things will happen: she will not be happy and you will be knowing it :)
Take water with you and make sure the gear is appropriate to not being too hot and neither cold (never too cold).
Find a nice place in the middle of your route for lunch. Spend ate least one hour having a good lunch.
