View Full Version : Performance upgrade , what's the best path ?

I'm interested in beefing up my performance overall and would also like a bit throatier of a sound. I'm so used to my cruisers with drag pipes (as well as monstrous torque) that I NEED a little more oomph from my LT.
Plus riding with my buddies who ALL own Harley's ... I'd like a little more sound so I can hear my bike when we ride together. Performance against them is not an issue :D
So ... what is my best path starting with the header and exhaust ?
Thanks !

Petre,
Please update your profile, we don't know what year your bike is. The only thing that is holding me back from getting a Black Hole exhaust with the billet Bosch regulator and fuel rail they offer for my '05 is cash. Some have stated good results with the chips and Remus but looking at the Remus header pipes they do not look to be a well designed as the Black Hole. It has also been reported that you loose on the bottom with the Remus and gain on the top--but only a few ponies. RB racing will make no claims of huge HP gains for their whole system beyond better fuel milage , faster reving and better throttle response. If you could see a Remus they do not make any real attempt to keep the header pipes the same length where the RB pipe has equal lenght pipes, 4-2-1. To me it just looks like it would work better.

I think I'll look into those ... Thanks :bmw:

Well I tried to place an order for the RB 4-2-1 Black Hole exhaust ... but they have none in stock and the woman wasn't sure when they'd be making more ...
Is the Remus exhausts much louder ? I know it may not be proper etiquette , but hell with that. I'm used to riding Pro Street Customs with drag pipes ... I like loud.
Plus I want to shut my Harley buddies up. They think Beemers just can't be loud. :p

I wonder:

.
If load pipes save lives: Why aren't all BMW riders already dead?
Just out of curiosity? WHY in gods name o you want your bike to be louder? It doesn;t make it any faster, just more obnoxious to everyone.
IMHO the LT is still WAY too loud. Have all that power available and make NO noise that would be the ticket to bliss.

The Black Hole looks like a system I think would be the way to go as they address the issue of injectors fuel regulation and the exhaust. The Remus is made in a louder version, the sport can, the street can is what most put on the LT from what I see here. I like a little more sound also and love the sound of my Akrapovics on my KTM 950.

Just drill a few holes into the exhaust pipe and/or muffler.
OR, you can record a really LOUD exhaust, xfer it into your iPod, and play it back whenever you don't want to listen to music.
If you want to fit in better with the HDs, loosen a few bolts on the valve cover. That will get it leaking oil. Chrome the kick stand, and revers knob.

I installed the Remus & chip a couple years ago. For me it makes the beast a little more sporty, glad I did it. When I bought mine they offered the street or sport version. I went with the street, sounds great and still hear the stereo. Some on this site have installed the sport version, I've been told is pretty loud. I do remember the billboards BMW put up for HDs 100th BDay "We would say Happy BDay but you wouldn't hear us" LOL....

Look at the Remus Revolution. It is street with a removable baffle that converts to more of a sport / vice versa.
