"IDEAL FOR USE WITH M50 MACADAM REARS"
Is this tire rated for the weight of the LT?

-----------------------A few years ago, on the old Yahoo LT group, there were some rider reports on them, none good. After that, I don't think anyone in the US tried them any more. They could have been damned by the very few known reports before enough people tried them to know for sure. I seem to remember someone in Europe having them, but don't remember if they gave a report on them or not.
I never tried them based on the zero good feedback score, but cannot say they won't work as well as at least the Dunlops.
They are bias ply, not radial, which is the main reason I never tried them. Once I found out how much better the radials handled I never used bias ply again.
We need up to date information, since tire manufacturers make changes to tires over time, they may be a better tire now. Try a set and let us know! You could either start a new trend, or drive the final nail in the coffin. :D I love Michelin tires on cars, just have been surprised they have not done anything up to date for the LT. Their other tires get pretty good press on lighter bikes, especially the Pilot Roads, but they offer nothing with the needed load ratings outside the Macadams.

Michelin does not offer a tire for the K1200LT, the 50E is listed by Michelin for a K1100LT. My memory says that they did have a Macadam series tire for the K12LT a number of years ago but it is no longer in manufacture (apparently). Since they do not offer a load rating for this tire, and they offer a completely different model tire for a Gold Wing, I would have to say that it is not a suitable replacement tire for a K12LT.

Michelin did specify the Macadam 50's for the K1200LT for a couple years at least that I know of, their US fitment web page always listed it.
I just checked the Michelin website, and the LT is no longer listed at all for the USA, but if you set the country to United Kingdom, France, Canada, Australia, etc. the LT is still shown to use the Macadam 50's.

Don't know why they removed the LT from USA consideration. Maybe they have no confidence in the tire used on the LT and are afraid of the high litigation rate in the US? At first I thought it may be the longer distances usually ridden and higher temps, but still listing the tire for use on the LT in Australia blew that theory. :D
