Another problem I am having (see post on 2003 alarm system)--

I have tapped in to the power behind the instrument 'map' light to run my V1 detector. It has worked for 3 years. Now it does not work on an intermittent basis. I have checked all the connections--and sometimes the power is OK for no apparent reason. I am about ready to run another wire from the battery to stop this nonsense.

My electrical skills are reasonable and the only explanation I can come up with is that somehow the bike Alarm 'interrupter' is screwing up the power??

Anybody have any ideas?

How did you tap into the power? If you used a Scotch lock, there's your prob. If you soldered, you could have a break.

Definitely a short somewhere, finding it can be a bear.

I replaced the 'phone jack' wires and plug last year--they were corroded---but this seems like a different problem. I will , however, check them again.

The scotch locks are, I agree, the cause of many problems--but they are Ok in this case. It would be nice to have a front (for RCU shelf thiings that need power) fused box available from the factory!

Thanks!
