My 2003 LT has the factory alarm system. I put a new battery in and now the alarm system is acting up. Since new (I bought it new) , I have never used the alarm system and see no reason to use it (I do have the remote and used it to silence the alarm after it went off as soon as I hooked up the new battery and started the bike.
Is there a way to totally disable the system?

Is there a way to totally disable the system?IIRC, the owner's manual tells how to program it to disable the auto-alarm and auto-immobilizer functions -- that's how I've always run mine. If it's not there, let us know and we'll dig something up for ya. If you want to go die-hard on it, a run through the schematics should show the wires that need to be jumpered in the harness at the alarm unit under the trunk.

In the 'archived FAQ pages', you can find the directions for disabling the alarm by clicking HERE (http://faq.bmwlt.net/#alarm_program). Hope that helps. But if it doesn't...perhaps the edited document (by your's truly) will fix it. That can be downloaded in this post (http://www.bmwlt.net/ubbthreads/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=K1200LT&Number=155355&page=&view=&sb=&o=&vc=1). I hope one of these does the trick for ya. (You'll need MS WORD to open my document. If you don't have it, let me know and I'll post a text file.)

Thanks. I will try your version.
Seems like we should have the option of a simple 'disarm all'.
Anyway--I appreciate your help!

Don't know if you have run across it in one of the other threads, but one mbr mentioned that, in a pinch, you can disable the alarm by pulling the horn fuse (which also disables your brake/tail lt.) FYI

GT Joe,
Could you confirm that # 12 is the annoying immobilser that cuts in around 30 secs after stopping the bike ?.
If so, what does # 11 do ?.
Thanks,
Simon
