I posted in Ride Tales and received 0 responses, hoping to get a little more luck here.

My brother and I will be meeting in Scranton PA and will have two full days to ride together (1st time in 22 years) before getting back to reality.

Tentative plan: (3rd week in June)
Tuesday night - Meet in Scranton, PA ( We are coming in from NH and Northern VA)
Wednesday - head west about 250 - 300 miles (maybe Rte 6) and Thursday come back in a general southeast direction.
Thursday night or Friday AM in Gettysburg.

Would like to know about any local roads to incorporate in the ride, out of the way interesting stuff , where to stay away from (Construction/Heavy Truck routes). Any suggestions for nice places to stay/eat.

Any local knowledge would be appreciated

Thanks

There's a hotel in (downtown  ) Emporium that I remember from some business trips I took over the years. I think it's called Charley's but I'm not going to place a bet on it. They have rooms upstairs and a pretty decent German restaurant downstairs. If you go out that way it would make a good waypoint. Other than that you should avoid the rush hour traffic. :D

You may want to give Two Jacks a call and see if they can recommend some riding in that area. They are the local BMW dealer in Wilkes-Barre. I just had a 24K done their and they were great. I was going to ride down and take route 6 which probably would have been a nice ride, but because of rain I ended up trailering it.

I just bought my bike in the fall, so I cannot give you ride ideas from actual roads I've ridden, but I am sure just about anywhere in that area will be great. Just look for wavey roads on the map......

You may want to consider a trip to Niagara Falls?

Sorry I'm not more help I've been off a bike for over 10 years and when driving a cage I went fastest route available not scenic.

Hey Swamprat

Do you have MS Streets & Trips? It costs about $20 or so on the Internet. I'll send you some routes. The three places I usually recommend in PA are:
Fallingwater in western PA
Gettysburg in central/eastern PA
Amish country in eastern PA

I can give a nice routing joining these three.

I also have a good route from Somerset up thru central PA. This is a nice lonely ride in places with some good curves. You could do that in reverse and come down to Gettysburg that way, then east thru Amish country and back roads to the 95 north of Baltimore for a quick run home to VA.

US 6 is great! Don't forget to stop by Wellsboro and see the Grand Canyon of the East. It's worth it! I also like to follow US 11 south into Harrisburg. It follows the Susquehanna River. You can catch US 30 in York and head over to Gettysburg.
