Greetings. You are going to love the ride. HYW #2 is a great ride from Spokane to Glacier. Don't miss Whitefish, MT. Need a place to spend the night, work on your bike, or just take a break. Coffee and porch light are always on.

See this link for a very brief report on part of Idaho.

I would also recommend the 2. The portion from the 95 across to Kalispell was outstanding. Its hard to say why - it wasn't dramatic, it wasn't that curvey, it wasn't even that lonely, it was just fast......great. Don't miss it. The 95 north from Coeur d'Alene is a pain though around the start and end of the day, its more densely populated that you would expect.

I enjoyed the 2 over Idaho's most well known curvey road - the Lolo Pass - which is the 12 between Lolo west to Lewiston.

My suggested routing would start at Lolo (its on the 93, a good road to connect to from further south e.g. Boise via 21/93 to Lolo), across the Lolo Pass to Lewiston (nice view from the lookout on the north side of the town + the ride up/down on the back road is super), up thru the Palouse on the 95 across the 90 at Coeur d'Alene and head north to Bowmans Ferry, then east on the 2 to Kalispell and so to Glacier.

ralph ... i check the pics and they are spectacular. thx very much. we plan to enter the park through kalispell (west entrance) and leave from there toward spokane, so we'll be checking out much of what you're pointing at.

Here's just a few shots to whet your whistle.....make sure you stop at the Two Sisters for breakfast, its great....just north of Babb on the US side of the border.

I came down from Medicine Hat at dawn coming from the prairies and crossing Glacier NP east to west on a most gorgeous day. Finished the day at dusk in Lewiston. Probably as good a day as I have ever had on the bike. Coming over the plains and having the Rockies slowly grow in size until they were stupendously overpowering was marvellous. Good luck to you Gerhard!
