Should I feel remorse?

As I've been oogling over my new K1200GT, the old faithful gal - my old K1200LT - has been sitting there. I've already made the decision to place her for sale under consignment at the dealer when I get back from Red River. So, should I feel remorse? Should I feel guilty? Should I feel like I just dumped the old wife for a new girlfriend?

6 years, 78,000 miles, and I drop her for a new ride. How heartless!

Man, with that beauty you're riding on now, I wouldn't think twice. And it ain't like there's gonna be alimony involved or nuthin'!! ;) Best of luck in the negotiations.

We are only on this orb for a few tiny specs of time. Enjoy. When I first got my M3 I thought nothing could feel better. Then I found the LT. Now that I rode the GT, it's time to move ahead.....again.

Don't for a second think you're heartless!

The LT was and is a faithful bike. She showed you how much more there is to motorcycling than most people ever imagine. Need to rip off some 800 mile days, she's rarin' to go. Found some twisties that need to be straightened out, she will dance with the best of them. Need to commute to work and haul the briefcase, no bungee's required and 40+ MPG to boot. Caught on the road on the bad side of the weather, she'll get you home, rainsuit optional. Now she introduced you to her athletic younger brother; I don't think she's jealous, she's proud.

Now you've got a chance to let someone else discover this great ole gal. You should feel honored you can introduce another rider to her and let her perform her magic once again.

Plus, if you leave a card with this site's address on it in the glovebox, we'll gain another member and make another friend. He'll discover more than he ever dreamed about LTs, motorcycling, and the best support group on the net. Really a great deal for everyone concerned, don't you think?

Glad you posted - I was going to ask you felt your body height/weight was "too big" for the GT - meaning that the GT feels uncomfortably light - but you just answered that.

While you may miss your LT, the LT won't miss you. It can't.

I know what you mean though. Riding back from northwest Arkansas this weekend I got to thinking about all the places me and the LT had been together. All the fun and good times. Started thinking that when I do finally get rid of Matilda, it'll feel like parting with an old friend, but those are my feelings. The bike don't give a rats butt.

Ride that GT like you stole it and don't look back!

You will feel remorse - I guarantee it.

It is inevitable that a short time after you sell it you will find the perfect need/want to have the other bike as well.

How well is the bike for 2 up. I noticed in the specs the bike with fuel weighs about 622 (nice compared to LT) but the max permissible wgt. is 922 which leaves only 370lb (if I am correct) for people, farkles, and luggage. Now I am 6'1", 245 and My bride is 125 lbs. That is the 370 right there. I am sad. Guess I need to drop some weight if I want to carry anything else.

I just sold my LT and got a 1200GSA. Whats your opinion of the two bikes, even though they are totally different. I think the big boxer is a remarkable machine and fills void tht LT lacked. I loved the LT, it was rock solid, smooth, kinda like riding through molten lead. The GS /GSA does not seem to be affected by crosswinds as much as LT.

I am really starting to like the K 1200 S. just put a little bigger windscreen for the longer trip. Problem is I like all the BMW bikes, one of each flavor please.
