Maybe this is old news and I certainly apologize if it has already been posted.
Today I did some riding amongst the Love Bugs and was appropriately whining about the agony of cleaning them off. Dusty Miller of Miller BMW gave me the answer to the problem and it works beautifully.
Hydrogen Peroxide. Squirt it on those Love Bugs and they just fizzle like a cut finger and every so easily wipe right off with no scrubbing or residue. Then I wash it off with a wet T-shirt, dry it, and the job is done. A Q-Tip in tight places does wonders also.
It seems that Love Bugs are mostly protein and that is why it works. It really does work!! It cut my clean-up time by at least 50 % this afternoon.
I hope this helps.

Larry, this works well too!
Get a large towel slightly wet and throw it in the dryer for 10 mins or so, just long enough to get it nice and warm & moist.
Wrap the towel over and around the windshield and other parts with bugs and just let it sit for 10 mins.
Most of them come off on the towel, the rest wipe off easy with the towel.

Thanks Dave,
I haven't tried that one but will give it a shot tomorrow afternoon.

Larry,
You need to bottle Hydrogen Peroxide in 4 oz containers and sell it for about $6 each. Call it "Dr. Bryant's Aircraft Grade Scientific Bug Residue Remover."
You will be a millionaire in no time!

Awwwww Dick,
I'm crushed. Just when Allen came up with a catchy little product name. Well, I guess I could call it "Dusty's Liquid Goosh Remover" and give him a royalty cut of $.03 a bottle. Seems fair to me. After all, if'n I hadn't been whining about it I would not have received the info. Sometimes "whining" is everything.

Does the dryer help in some other way?

Although I have't tried the dryer technique, the method that Dave suggests works great. My technique is to simply throw an old towel in the laundry tub and soak it with piping hot water. Lay it over the windscreen and any other bug contaminated surface. Let it sit for a couple of minutes then just wipe off the bugs. Finish up with a little Plexis or other cleaner and go for another ride.

I just soak the towel under hot water and it works fine.
I even keep a couple of small yellow towels on the bike for that purpose while travelling (yellow so as not to confuse wary motel owners). After cleaning, I tie the wet towel to the saddlebag handle where it dries while they ride.
I did have a guys ask me if the yellow symbolized anything. After thinking about it for a second, I told him it was in honor of all the bugs that had to die so that I could ride. :)
