At Miller BMW in Tallahassee http://www.advrider.com/forums/images/icons/Laughing.gif
Had a great 230 mile ride home to Holiday during which I had the opportunity bond with the bike.
150 or so miles of the ride home were enjoyed in West Florida Frog Drowning spring rain http://www.advrider.com/forums/images/smilies/thumb.gif

What a Great Riding Machine the GS Adventure is. I'm so impressed with the bikes power.
I've been riding a 02 K1200LT for 4 years and love it!
The GS is such a different machine from the LT. Viva Le Difference http://www.advrider.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif

It was worth the wait to get it! http://www.advrider.com/forums/images/smilies/wings.gif

I was there when it was first started and sounded good and tight.
Zero Miles on the odometer; the right road light didn't fire up http://www.advrider.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif

Richard, the Master Tech that assembled the bike grabbed his DVOM and found the problem in short fashion.

The factory had over tightened a wire tie on the bar that passes from left to right under the nose and to which the power wire for the right road light was tied.

The wire tie had cut the ground wire. Richard stripped, soldered and heat shrank the wire and all was well.

He did the road test and filled the tank with 8.3 gals and brought her back with exactly 4 miles on the clock.

We did the walk around/delivery check list and I asked him a dozen or so questions and then I took her out for the 25 mile ring seating acceleration/deceleration roller coaster ride.

During the ride home I continued the full on/ full off throttle work for another 25 miles then settled into a mixture of 4th, 5th and 6th gear speed runs with no more than 5 minutes at a set rpm.

250 miles now and the idle is smooth as glass, the acceleration/torque is remarkable and there is zero soot on the exhaust pipe!

The windshield is very effective in the full up position and the front seat in the full up position gives me a very comfortable leg position / knee angle.

The grips are a little too small for my hand comfort; this is easily remediated.
I will need to bring the bars back some as well.

I had the opportunity to test the ABS on a rain slick bridge and they performed flawlessly while hauling the GS down to a stop from 60mph in a hurry!
The Tourances (sp?) got my attention in the wet curves a few times but feel and ride well so far.

The headlight is pretty effective up to about 60mph; HID-OnLine here I come, Again!
The road lights seem to do a good job filling in the gaps and certainly help with conspicuity.
I have a set of Moto Lights for the calipers with 50 watt Amber Spots that will help a lot!

Trying to sleep tonight will be a challenge http://www.advrider.com/forums/images/icons/eek7.gif

I have to spend some quality time with the TT web site tomorrow and get the Micatechs ordered.

Has anyone tried the J&M Integratr IV intercom (http://www.jmcorp.com/SeeProducts.asp?PF=29) ?
Looks like a capable intercom with all the bells & whistles I need and I already have a J&M headset in my Symax.

One last thing; Dusty Miller the owner of Miller BMW Motorcycles of Tallahassee is a Great Guy and runs a tight ship at his dealership.
His Techs are Master Techs and everyone associated with Miller BMW understands and practices Real Customer Service!

Dusty made the purchase process a joy! I highly recommend Dusty and his Dealership.
No affiliation just a very satisfied customer and professionally handled purchase experience.

Congrats Dave,

If you like the power now, wait until you get some miles on her!:D It just gets better and better.

BTW - Has the GSA told you it's name yet?

Cool Dave!!! Can't wait to see pics...but more importantly, ride with you on it. :)

The Tourances (sp?) got my attention in the wet curves a few times but feel and ride well so far.Just something to file...
You're not riding an 850-pound whale anymore. That GS may not hug the road in the wet like the LT no matter what rubber you're running. Remember me slowing down on my Ninja in the rain headed back to the Iron Horse? There's a good reason. Ride safe. Ride smart. I know you will. :)

Good luck Dave. It's a gorgeous (to some of us) bike. I have had my R12GS now for about a year, with most of the stuff on your GSA put on by me, and I still love the bike. I have the Remus Titanium exhaust/headers and not only does it add a bit of noise, a bit of power too.

I love the GSA's panniers . . . finally bags that open from the top!!! What a crazy idea.http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif

Good luck and ride safe.

Best Regards

Sue is not fond of the looks of the Adventure at all, but she looks fine to me! http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif

The commute this morning was way too short for me http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif

Considering the numbers of BMW's I have had over the years, the R12GS gathers more people than any of them, including the new K12GT. Whether Harley/V-Twin riders or squids, most will come an look over and comment about how neat the bike is. And, with the large tank and much more impressive panniers (am I to presume you did get them) it will surely get lots of comments and adoration!http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif

I didn't go with the BMW Panniers for a couple of reasons.
While they look good as most TT stuff does they are very expensive and lack the capacity I think I'm going to need.
I decided to go with Micatechs (http://www.micatech.net/index.htm)!

I have had some interesting comments from a few folks already http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif

When I first saw the BMW bags for the new ADV, I'll have to say that I was pretty impressed. However I have since read some negative comments about them, especially from the guys who have had them fall off! Don't think that you will be displeased with the Micatech bags.

Me, well I hadn't ridden my ADV since I got home from a Death Valley trip a couple of weeks ago. So we got the chance to bond again this morning going to work. In fact, she's outside looking at me and asking "Where are we going to go next Dad" as I type this.

As with you, my commute was far too short.

Congrats,
Tom

36 mpg, ya sure you weren't running from your friend ;)

My R1200GS gets from 38-42 with normal driving
(For me,....I like to get up to speed quick, but don't really speed except in the twisties, which are far and few between around here)

Nice pics

Enjoy !!

I'll be back up that way Memorial Day Weekend for a little twisty riding!
Dan, a friend from here on his Valk and me are meeting James from Madison and Bob from near Nashville in Robinsville and heading North via twisty roads only.
I'm trying to get the Adventure ready for the trip if I can.

This is one sweet ride.
I thought the LT liked curves http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gifhttp://www.bmwlt.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif
