I found metel shavings and a peice of metal on the magnet of rear drive today while doing 6k service on my LT. Called the dealer and related what was found. James said do not ride unless you absoloutly have to, to bring it on a trailer if possible. We were doing service at LTSaddledance's house and he has a trailer so we mounted up arrived at Hebert's at 2pm. James had us drive it in the shop, after research he discovered that warrenty ran out last month. So he figured up cost to replace bearing, seal, and time involved, gave me a quote, we agreed on price. James began work, Steve and I went for a late lunch. We returned about four pm and James was installing rear wheel, took it for a test ride, by 5pm I was riding home with a smile on my face.

Well, if its gotta go, that's the way to have it done. Detect it, repair it, and get on with enjoying the bike. I hope when my time comes it will pass as painlessly. Good work catching it and dealing with it.

Glad they got you back on the road quickly. You should still go after BMW. They know this is a problem with the LT, and should be held responsible. Besides, they have covered rear drive failures on LTs much more than one month out of warranty.

I haven't dealt with Hebert's in quite a while simply because they are so far from me or maybe it's because I am so far from them! <g>
Nevertheless, my experience with them was absolutely top notch! Fair pricing out front and supurb service in the back!

I bought my LT (used) in Baton Rouge and took to to Herberts to get it inspected before I returned to Oklahoma City. I must say I was treated great there, and the service manager spent as much time explaining my new(to me) bike to me as I would have expected if I had purchased it from him. Too bad my local dealer was not nearly as professional and courteous when I returned home.
I would highly recommend Herberts to anyone.
