Hi,

I am in the market for a GPS and I know very little about them! After reading many posts on different Garmin models and being thoroughly confused, I think I have narrowed my decission down to the 2720 model for my '05 LT.

I just want GPS not all the extras that come with the 2730 model. If I purchase the 2720 will I need a comm system to hear the voice prompts or can the 2720 be connected to the radio and heard through the speakers? I prefer not to purchase a comm system at this time.

I'm sure I will have many more questions in the future so be forwarned! :-)

Thanks!

Brian

Brian,

There is no easy way to get the audio into the radio. Look in the main forum - Graydudes post on the aux input. You can always buy a single ear phone and plug it in if you want the voice prompts in the helmet. I don't bother with them as the visuals are just fine. (2610 user) I have used the car adapter (in the car of course)and find I just turn off the voice.

Thanks John!

I was afraid it would difficult or next to impossible to connect the GPS to the radio. More than likely I will take your advice and try the ear piece route to see if I even like hearing the voice prompts. I can't justify the cost for a comm system just to hear voice prompts from a GPS.

A couple other questions, if you don't mind? When I do purchase the 2720, how difficult is it to wire up? I'm not very educated on wiring! Also, I'm thinking I will buy a BMR shelf and mount it that way. Do you know if the bracket that comes with the GPS is all I need to mount to the BMR shelf or do I need something like the Touratech?

Sorry for all the questions! This GPS thing is just so confusing especially since I have no experience using one.

Thanks,
Brian
