Where do I get a battery in Oregon

The last 3-4 mornings I've been getting an ABS fault when I start the bike, after she runs for a while, I restart her and it clears the fault, this morning it took a little longer than yesterday.
I've been around BMW's long enough to know what's happening, my battery is getting weak, it's time, the bike is an 02 with the original battery, getting a new one will be at the top of my to do list come Monday morning. I'm currently in Grants Pass and heading north.
Would appreciate some input.

The local dealer will have the stock battery in stock. I do not think they have the Oddessy 680 (My choice)

I have heard others talking about the Oddesy battery is this something that can be purchased locally or is it strictly a mail order item?

Assuming you are headed north on the I-5 the next BMW dealer (North) from where you are at is in Eugene Oregon a little ways off the I- 5 . The approximate distance from Grants Pass to Eugene is 160 miles

Hans,

Before you replace the battery, check the fluid levels in the rear brake reservoir. A small drop in fluid due to normal brake pad wear will give you the same ABS symptoms as a weak battery.

Check this thread (http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2630) for more info and pics of the reservoir.

And if you still have the warning light flashing with both reservoirs up at the Max level, then replace the battery.

I checked the rear brake fluid level and its closer to the min than max mark.
My rear pads had to have worn some after all the mountain goat trails I've been on in the last couple of weeks.
I had an issue with a grinding noise coming from the rear, it turned out to be that the pads are a little taller than the rotor and wearing down to an "L" shape with the "hook" riding on the top of the rotor until they fully retract. Last week I pulled the pads and knocked the "lip" of the pads with a screwdriver in a motel parking lot, they still had plenty of meat then, I'll check them again before I buy a battery.
Maybe I should rename this thread: where do I get some dot4 in Oregon :)

That's probably it then. The reservoirs have to be pretty much all the way at the Max mark or you'll get the flashing lights. If they're completely full with new pads, they'll start to flash as the pads get close to their wear limits. If they weren't completely full when the pads were new, you'll definitely get the flashing lights long before you need to replace the pads.

Either way, a bottle of DOT4 is cheaper than a battery so it's worth trying that first.

Note this applies to the '02-'04 bikes with Integral ABS. The '99-'01 bikes have a single rear reservoir without the brake fluid level sensor, and the '05-'06 bikes moved back to a single rear reservoir.
