Battery Tender "routine"??

Nope, not in my years of use with them (although many I have attached directly to the battery terminals).

This is not unbelieveable, though, if talking about charging a Can-Bus bike through the power socket. I was just reading over on ADV Rider about all of the problems R1200GS owners are having with battery drains, software upgrades, then electrical components (incl the power outlet) intermittantly die. Seems that one workaround (not from BMW) is to turn (for example) your factory installed GPS off before you start the bike, and turn it back on only after the bike is running (or it turns itself off for you after about a minute).

Have to say that currently I prefer the pre-Can-Bus bikes.

I believe that is true on the Can-Bus bikes.

...for the BMW bikes with the Can-Bus system. I have a '05 R1200GS and one of the battery tender chargers designed for the bike. The instructions are very clear on using this routine to hook it up to the R1200GS.

My "Light Tank" doesn't seem to care and it's happy with any charge I give it.
