Hey, everyone:
I have the opportunity to buy a 2000 K1200 RS/GT with about 2000 miles on it. No price set yet, but I was told to "find out" what would be a "fair price." I, of course, have no clue. Any ideas?
I'd also like to know if this type of bike has a history of common problems that should make me stay away. Thanks in advance.

At the risk of offending, might I suggest this question being asked in the "Other K-Bikes Discussion (http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=56)" forum. I would also title the thread something like "2000 K1200 RS/GT, How much?" You may get better results.
Other food for thought....whenever I need to find out the fair market value of something, I head to eBay. Especially if you have a week or two to see some auctions close and find out what people are really willing to pay for something.
Also, check out K-Bikes.com (http://www.k-bikes.com/forums/cmps_index.php?). You may find a very similar bike on their Classifieds forum.

Kelley Blue Book (http://www.kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/ke.kb.mr?kbb.CA;756586;CA013&94582;rc;r&&2000;BMW;K1200RS%20ABS%20w/Fairing;441171;18140;;;;&&&&&) shows $8,305 as the suggested retail value, while NADA (http://www2.nadaguides.com/Values/ValueReport.asp?UserID=525a05a1-d113-4241-972e-49d90a526518&DID=38840&Type=MC&GCode=MC&wPg=1107&wSec=3&Letter=B&Com=0032&Year=2000&Model=1200001268) shows $7,900.

Also check out www.ibmwr.org in the marketplace. For whatever reason, there seems to be a glut of K-RS on the market now.

Those prices seem a bit low to me. Hhmmn... Especially for a bike with only 2K on the clock.

Joe, you don't offend. I know my question was off topic, but I'm not a forum-savvy person, so I simply asked a question to the general K LT group, whose opinions I trust. I'll look into the suggestions I received from you and the others and thank you for your replies.

As mentioned look at:
Kelly Blue Book online
NADA online
BMWMOA
and try http://www.ibmwr.org/market/
and the RS site - http://www.k-bikes.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=78
The RS market is up in the air at this time due to the new K-S and GT. A lot of people like the old style better so in some places, the older style is holding its value.
It was funny, where the INternational Bike show was going around showing the new K-GT, you could see the value of the old GT lowering in that area the next week.
