Hello everyone!

Been lurking on this site for quite a while and thank whomever is responsible for it--Great site!

I recently traded a 99 K1200LT for an '06 LT. Had all the bells and whistles installed, (VII Comm, Nav II GPS, FRS, etc, etc.) Since then, I've had to wait for over 6 weeks for both front lights to be replaced (zenons not in stock!!), the VII has never worked properly, replaced and 2nd works no better. The NavII voice has never interfaced with the VII, the FRS radio shorts out the VII due to the connecting cable being very loose in the connectors, my central locking system failed and locks have to be replaced, the saddle bags rattle badly at low rpm.

I'm having to wait way too long for this stuff to be fixed, as I purchased the bike in Dec 05. No one at the dealership seems to have a clue. I've talked to BMWNA Customer Relations on several occasions, all of which could be considered to be a joke--they are not interested in helping out.

The standard answer I get back is: "there is nothing mechanically wrong with the bike....". While this is true, I paid A LOT of extra $ for those items and I expect to get what I paid for--therefore, I refuse to continue to put miles on the bike with system(s) that don't perform as advertised.

Been back and forth to the dealer way to many times and can't take any more time and effort to do so for more of the same cat and mouse game.

This is the 3rd BMW I've had and I am seriously considering calling it quits as I am disgusted at the lack of concern over the issues at the dealership and at BMW. No lemon laws for MC's in KY, so SOL there.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Wow! I hate hearing this crap. You obviously need another dealer. Dare I ask where the next closest dealer is to you?

All I can do is commiserate; it must be maddening to have spent all that money, gone through all that anticipation of the new bike and accessories, and then have it turn out like this. I'm sure you have looked into the following, but:

1) Can you take it to another dealer, one that does have a clue?
2) Aside from the saddlebag rattle, it sounds like all the problems are related to electrical issues. If your dealer cannot diagnose/repair, would he agree to pull in a consultant, perhaps from another dealership, who can do it?
3) Do you have a local radio/television station/newspaper that has a "consumer advocate" who likes to take on this kind of scenario? I have known business people to suddenly find a lot of motivation to fix something that was unfixable as soon as they realize that they are going to get a lot of very bad press if it does not get fixed.
4) Do you belong to a local BMW club? Does anyone in the club have an inside relationship with the dealer, and could intervene? How about a letter, signed by a bunch of people from the club, about their concern that this has not been handled adequately?
5) Tell the dealer you want a loaner until all mechanical, electrical, and accessory systems are working as they should.
6) Talk to a lawyer.

Good luck.

 Closest Dealer is 3 hours away!!!!!

This dealer justs gets angry with me when I tell him how pissed off I'm getting after investing over 40K in bikes bought from him over the last 7 years.

Please keep the suggestions coming as all will be taken into consideration for further action.

Nasty e-mails already sent to BMWNA and I have asked for the bike to be bought back. Doubt that will happen though, so I have to come up with a game plan pretty quick, as I drop it off again in 3 days.

I am sure I will miss out on May riding too, as it will take a while to get anyone with a clue to figure anything out.

At a minimum, I think BMW is going to have to make up some compensation on this one.

Should have kept the '99--50K on it and not a problem!
Wanted the new stuff and having nothing but troubles and it is really taking the fun out of it all.

Keep the suggestions coming and thanks!!!
