Tap the speaker ?

I like my old Beltronics detector....
but, no external speaker jack.......
Is there an easy way to tap the speaker on these ?

Have you tried taking the unit apart? It may have a board-mounted piezo speaker where you'd have to unsolder it (or tap onto those leads), then solder on new leads to a 3.5mm plug, and you'd be all set. Shouldn't be too big a deal if you're half decent with a soldering iron.
