Okay, I have several tabs for the allen bolts broken on my k1200lt.

Anyone have any suggestions for repair? In most cases I do not have the broken parts of the tab.

Considering making metal tabs - suggestions for adhesive to hold them to the plastic welcome, or any other suggestions.

Suggestions to get new fairing pieces appreciated, but not wanted quite yet. Seeing what I can do first.

Phil, PROFILE, would help.
How handy are you?
You might try to make replace tabs from Auto body fiber glass repair kit.
Fitting the fiber glass to the back of the panels. Then trimming to fit.

Filled out my profile.

But, I am very handy. My experience with this material is limited, but I do not doubt my ability to make or repair tabs given some direction on the appropriate material.

You could use fiberglass matt and the epoxy resin I quoted earlier. Can be found at most boating stores. This will be a very strong fix. I have a few tabs broken as well. Thats how I will fix mine when I finally get to it. The matt and resin are very easy to work with. Just do not oversaturate the matt with resin. More is less when using resin.

I used JB Weld on 3 of my tabs for the lower Tupperware with great success. But I had the original tabs. I would suggest making the new tabs out of metal and using the JB Weld to adhere.

Which allen bolts are you talking about? The tabs on the fairings don't use allen bolts but the structure does. If you are talking about the metal tabs on the frame being broken you are in deep doo doo. If you are talking about the tabs on the plastic, JB weld works well. But those use screws. Where are the broken tabs?

Thanks for the profile.
Some pic of the missing tab may be a help to some of us who try to fix anything be buying new.
Also with profile filled you may have a rider living near who can help you.

I had an R100 with a crack in the block, fixed with JB Weld, rode it for over 10,000 mile before it reopened. An had to replace it with the 2000 K1200 LTC ( Canyon Red).

I only have one problem with the K bike. It is six years old and I only have 37,000 mile on it.

I Know I have to ride MORE.

These 2 sites should give you what you're looking for. The Plastex does an excellent job of repairing those rascally plastic tabs.

Phil, check out the May 06 issue of Motorcycle Consumer News. On the back cover, their product report is on Plastex Plastic Repair including pictures and it sounds like exactly what you are looking for.
