Hello everyone! Can someone tell me which part I need to replace on a RH rearview mirror. The part that is cracked/broken is the black plastic piece that holds the ball studs. This black plastic piece is the one that has the spring clips in it. I ordered what I thought I needed last week; the 'cup' and it's not the correct part. Thanks in advance for your help. This is a link to Hammersly BMW in Lynchburg, Va. with their parts fiche:http://webparts.com/cycles/ficheframeset.cfm?tablename=K1200LT

If I understand what broke on your mirror, you have to buy the entire unit. There have been a couple of repairs described on this board. Check the archives, but basically use JBWeld and wire, or similar, to hold the spring clips. At least that's what I did.

Hey, Bruce - I'm not sure on the later model LTs, butt the accessories page showing part numbers lists the following:

That black part the gets broken around the spring clips that hold the mirror onto the bike
51 16 2 347 233 - Left (with Chrome Trim for Custom and Elite)
51 16 2 347 234 - Right (with Chrome Trim for Custom and Elite)

Guess you need to confirm if they're still valid for the newer bikes.

I can take the rest of the day off??

Ha - not with my HDL. That woman axed me just this morning if I'd show her how to work the Dremel tool that's been hidden (I thought) in the garage --- somethang 'bout etching the HDL in the granite countertop. Guess she's tired of my "the paw print gang ate it" excuse!!

Hey, btw - Shealey sez to put a leetle bit of grease on the ball studs when you mount the new mirror parts - pick your own flavor. 'Posed to make the spring clips happier! :bmw:
