I know this has been a previous topic and I have read some of them. However, I still do not understand. I put new tires on due to cupping "BT's" and run 42 and 48. Still when I lean into turns I get a harmonic howl. Have put several thousand miles on the tires and still have a howl. This cannot be right. Makes me wonder is it the tires or a bearing or what?

Is it Metzlers or Stones?
I really liked the mets but the noise drove me crazy. I am running stones now and they are pretty quite, just dont last as long.
It does sound like you may have something else wrong though.

I most always hear the tires on all my bikes when leaned over. Most say the Metzlers are bad about it. The Metzlers on my LT haven't given me any noise to notice much less to complain about. I run my LT's tires at 42/50.

Put a new front bias BT on my '05 and it does the same thing. I don't notice it all the time so it may be a temperature induced thing. Or maybe I get use to it after a few minutes. At least it's not cupping like my last one at 3000 miles.
I'm thinking it's probably the tire.

The only time my 880's howl excessively is when I have been on the flat top too long. The harder you ride in the "twisties" seems like it dissipates the howl. Guess you just have to burn off the sidewalls a little more often...at least that's what I tell my wife.
I agree with Kip, let's ya know your actually leaning over.

Would new tires make more noise than worn in tires? Front more noise than rear? I've heard that noise, but always found some rationalization that it wasn't from my bike. My front has 7.5K and rear 15.5K - maybe its my helmet...

Airwolf... oh I mean the Metzlers 880's are howlers. I run 36F and 42R and they only howl in the corners...(after about 6k)
It must be the tread pattern as the tire gets worn it starts it's thing!!!
